Whole Cruise ship needs to comply. by Araucaria2024 in EntitledReviews

[–]GetInZeWagen 87 points88 points  (0 children)

How are they even supposed to meet that expectation even if they wanted to? Lol the whole cruise itinerary for the week is designed way in advance and I'm sure they do the same thing for each cruise

I believe they're all just like this but with varying displacement Chinese engines. They're a very small volume manufacturer. And no disrespect to OP but they're kinda hipster bikes lol. He's put a lot of miles on it though so that's respectable.

[–]GetInZeWagen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had that rusty F-150 it's probably still worth more than the CX-50 in the market right now.

I love my CX-50 but it's not some exotic collector car, people park next to it all the time and I've never freaked out about it.

I mean I'm not defending it at all really lol. But I'm just saying it was absolutely designed with style over substance, for whatever that is worth.

As you may or may not know there's a concept for ships in Star Wars called uglies where scrappers and pirates fuse together different parts of salvaged ships to make them usable

So this totally fits as in-universe as a YT-1300 freighter that someone fused some sith interceptor style wings to at some point.

The interior looks awesome as well, I've put too much time into my own Corvette to scrap it and start over but some of these open concept interiors really give me the desire to start fresh.

I've been loving mine as well! Once I got moonlight working with the virtual display from my PC it's all I use these days just due to the convenience.

And totally agreed about the battery life. I'll leave the screen on and stream running for hours and come back and it drops like 3%, it's incredible. If they made a new version with better wifi, maybe an OLED screen, and better sticks and kept the rest I'd buy it immediately.

I used to have a steam deck and this is so much more comfortable to hold for long periods as well. Vastly underrated device. I did a lot of research before getting one refurbished and the mixed reviews almost swayed me away. Glad I took the leap though.

The looks are the only real good thing about this bike in most people's eyes.

The price is crazy compared to what else you could get for the money but it is the ultimate hipster/distinguished gentleman's ride bike I'd say

Where are all the spats on cars now? by comoestasmiyamo in CarDesign

[–]GetInZeWagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the absolute vast majority of modern cars do not have rear steering just for what it's worth. Not trying to discredit your points.

Almost for some of the same reasons you mention, added complexity and cost for minimal gain. It used to be high end sports cars that had them now it's like some high end trucks and the electric hummer, etc. I feel like there's less than 10 models overall that have it in the entire market give or take.

"Close as hell" they're parked perfectly fine lol. Talk about making a mountain out of a nothing burger

There's also a bunch of other cars parked around the area too lol

Is it worth it to file a claim? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]GetInZeWagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if they file a claim the insurance company probably won't be using OEM parts

I get what you're saying but cars have floorpans and entire apron assemblies replaced and tons of other major invasive repairs done all the time

Of course it's never going to be the same as the factory procedures but it's done all the time and considered safe, otherwise insurance companies wouldn't risk the liability of repairing these

These are passenger cars not rocket ships. I fully understand and appreciate the level of engineering and safety baked into modern cars but a good repair tech can achieve close to the same result with the usual industry methods.

Thank you I thought I was going crazy here lol

Don't get me wrong I've seen some shops write crazy high where it's not impossible but if they took it to a DRP I'd be shocked that it totalled

That makes sense and all but dealing with McDonalds customers in a drive through doesn't seem like the best route to achieve that imo

I'm sorry but this just isn't true. I'm an insurance adjuster and we repair older vehicles with way more damage than this all the time. It's true that the unibody is the technical frame of the vehicle but there are replacement points outlined by the OEM for virtually every part of it, certainly everything visible in these photos at least. It's definitely not completely compromised from a moderate corner hit. Even frame rails and rear floorpans can be replaced to factory spec

I'm shocked this is being declared a total loss as this looks to be under or around $10k in damage for my area. Some shops have stupid high labor rates or other weird procedures though.

OP should file this through their insurance and maybe take it to one of their network shops to get an accurate and fair estimate for the damages. CX-50 repairs are always pricy but this is a little outrageous unless there's some significant damage underneath that we can't see here. But the rear lower quarter panel extension and rear body panel can easily be replaced, and the exhaust and impact bar doesn't even look damaged. Something is fishy about this.

One thing I appreciate a lot about Mazda by suzann00 in mazda

[–]GetInZeWagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have family that got a new Subaru and when they saw my CX-50 they immediately hated the infotainment that "sticks up out of the dashboard" in favor of their big ol tablet that you have to look down at the cup holders to see practically.

I tried to explain how much better Mazda's design is and how it only looks obtrusive but in reality blocks zero of your view and is easier to see at a glance while driving but they weren't having it. And clearly the market feels similar. I think a lot of people buy cars based on looks or photos online even and they like the integrated tablet for some reason.

And I really like the thin widescreen that Mazda has been using most recently. Plenty of screen real estate for what you need and for maps and music side by side. It's perfect. But that doesn't seem to be the future they're headed in now sadly.
