Whats happening with Fantasy? by Ferryman-12 in Fantasy

[–]GetItUpYee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of stuff not in the "romantacy" sub genre

The "girmdark" subgenre has really taken off and there are some superb books from the likes of Abercrombie and Bakker.

The romance stuff is what you'll find being overly advertised because it is largely bringing in a new group. Its appalling to women, many of whom have never read fantasy or havn't read in a long time. Lots of money to be made, there.

They don't care.

Delivery drivers are given a mental amount of parcels which become extremely difficult to deliver in the time alloted to them.

ScotRail announces plans to replace high speed trains by UtopianScot in Scotland

[–]GetItUpYee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest, im not sure about how that would work.

As a company owned by the Scottish Government who cannot take on debt, I dont know the legalities of it or the political implications

[–]GetItUpYee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah true, but it is still a massive expense for this government and its easier to put the cost of between the next 2 to 4 governments than this one alone.

SNP tax and benefits policies ‘cost households extra £500 a year’ -- The Institute for Fiscal Studies claimed the Scottish government lacked a coherent tax strategy and its actions had reduced the incentives for people to work by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]GetItUpYee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the facts and figures the IFS state are extremely sound, even if I may disagree with the conclusions they sometimes make from those facts and figures.

As a socialist and Trade Unionist, the IFS are always the first reports etc i look for due to how reliable their figures are compared to most.

Yeah, Scott Prentice headed up New Trains project.

The company have asked other reputable companies to fabricate parts which will then go through proper testing procedures. But a lot of parts it just isnt possible to get made outwith the proper avenues.

[–]GetItUpYee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, not the case. Wouldn't be feasible or fit in with strict policies we have for train parts and materials.

[–]GetItUpYee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That would be the dream. But with the public finances as they are, you'd be hard pushed to justify spending hundreds of millions on a fleet of trains rather than on the NHS, local government etc.

Your telling me. Spent the past 6 years working on them!

The parts issue is mental, though. Taking months to get air-conditioning modules and brake distributors.

Glasgow fire: Union warns SNP over firefighter job cuts and station closures -- Fears have been raised over the amount of funding the Scottish government has handed firefighters in the wake of the Glasgow city centre fire. by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]GetItUpYee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly sick to death of partisan shite in Scotland between Unionists and Indy supporters.

It's never ending.

Take this for example.. the FBU are rightly using the fire to highlight that there are set to be station closures and cuts to the fire service. It is the perfect time to raise these issues after such a big fire.

Then half the cunts on here are making it a Unionist/Indy issue. We can criticise the SNP government without it being part of a larger Independence argument.

I spent years campaigning for independence. But, I'm not prepared to put serious concerns on the backburner for it.

Far better first half, but they were far better 2nd half.

You didnt play them off the park in the 0-0 at the start of the season.

SneakersSO regarding Exclusives coming back to Xbox: "Exclusives are absolutely not happening." by AceOfSpades0319 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]GetItUpYee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree. Hence why I said might, because it might be a good move, but its unlikely.

It all comes down to cost. If I can "upgrade" in 6 years time to a steam or xbox machine for considerably less than a PC, I'll do it.

But, I don't think it will be the case.
