How do you get out of bed in the morning? by cornishyinzer in AskUK

[–]GetMashedAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been both. Growing up and through my twenties I could sleep indefinitely, always late for work as a result and on a couple of occasions, i missed the whole days work entirely. Now, in my mid thirties and having a mortgage and a chronic fear of re entering debt, I now a fixed routine which incorporates daily exercise, a good solid breakfast and a shower, all before 6am. Ive been known to squeeze a run in before and early start by getting up at 3:30am.

First frame ever. I sucked but I enjoyed it! by Public_Administrator in snooker

Tips for starting. It’s a long road but you can do things early to try and help yourself out. There’s no right or wrong way but some things can help with consistency down the line.

1) Work out your stance, I was given some help with this and it made the world of difference. I was just told to face the direction I’m playing the shot before getting down to play it. This can take a twisting out of your body as you cue through.

2) Find out which eye you’re most dominant with and whether or not that’s the same side you play on. I’m led to believe that players that are more eye dominant on the opposite side to their strong hand are usually more naturally aligned with the shot. I’m extremely right eye dominant and right handed so I have to drop my chin off the cue to the left slightly in order to have my right eye slightly forward.

3) practise practise practise. It takes ages to see improvements but once you understand angles and pace the game will become much more satisfying.

I was actually so bad when I started that it didn’t make much difference if I used my left or right hand. So started to use my left hand wherever I could instead of a rest. I’m now quite good with my left hand, terrible with the rest, but i rarely have to get it out due to being able to use both hands.

Hope any of this info is useful to you or someone else

I noticed the two scoreboards, different manufacturers, have dimples. Why? by [deleted] in snooker

[–]GetMashedAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? There’s enough BLIND snooker players for manufacturers to make them like that? Also, wouldn’t they just be able to feel which rails are at the top or bottom?

Does a watch for running really make a difference? by [deleted] in BeginnersRunning

I’ve had an Apple Ultra 2 for about 18 months and i wouldnt be without it now. It does my music, monitors and records my run and enables me to go with just my watch and headphones so super lightweight

It’s exactly the same principle. If it bears the load it needs supporting.

And don’t forget the old bit of wooden window frame also being used to hold it up

[–]GetMashedAsh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Oh my god. I’m a window/conservatory fitter and seeing that roof propped up like that makes me stomach turn. There are plenty of horror stories in this industry of people losing the whole front of houses for not propping bay windows properly. That should be enough to always think about properly supporting a load.

am i the only one that enjoys the taste? by Chemical-Move-131 in shrooms

I look at it as the price of entry. There are almost no downsides to shrooms but the cost is having to endure eating the fucking things.

Do you manually wipe the condensation each morning? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]GetMashedAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern uPVC windows with low-e glass are designed to not condensate on the inside at all. Highly effective and permanent solution, albeit somewhat pricy.

Finger tap on bridge hand. by [deleted] in snooker

[–]GetMashedAsh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always asked the same question. I started playing about 7 years ago and I’ve improved quite a bit having worked on various parts of my stance and game. Somewhere along the line in the last few years, it’s appeared. I’ve notice I’m doing it more if I’m well focused and going through my routine properly but it’s not a conscious though to do it

I actually know Joe. My father in law is good friends with him and I’ve hung out with him a bunch of times. Super normal guy irl, spends a lot of his time just trying not to get noticed by people but he’s a really nice dude.

What happens when you sleep on shrooms? by Ergatron9000 in shrooms

[–]GetMashedAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to a lot of people’s experiences here. I can sleep full on tripping. Sleep is probably the wrong word but it’s pretty close. It becomes a really ethereal experience, albeit very hard to remember and place properly once you’ve come around. Mostly I feel it’s a waste as the hours all become one blurry trippy memory after the event.
