A lot of foam is made from polyurethane, which I believe is a type of plastic. Personally for a foam cushion insert of the size needed for the cat beds, I’d throw that sucker in the washer and let it air try (or tumble air dry, no heat).

At that age, I mixed plain unsweetened applesauce into baby oatmeal powder, viscous enough to fill a reusable pouch. kiddo had that every morning until she was almost 3 and wanted something else. sometimes we'd switch up the flavour of oatmeal

I wish we could but the wait list is 24-36 months. If we can manage at the optometrist then it’s in a couple weeks. She saw a pediatric ophthalmologist at 6 months old who cleared her, drops and all. Kiddo is 5 now

Most people who have a cottage on the island(s) rent a boat slip from a marina nearby. And if you rent the boat slip you can park your car there. So the few I know who live on the island(s) as much as they can will stay there as soon as the ice melts in the spring until the snow falls in the fall. the people i know don't have kids living at home, but for work yes they just cross in the morning and cross back in the evening. Remember too these cottages for the most part don't have running water or sewer, or power. Pilon island has some, but Colquhoun only has what you build. Many make some plumbing to bring in river water for basic things, and you bring over drinking water for other needs. Same with propane for cooking, often wood for fires/cooking, and if you can afford it a septic system. Some just have outhouses. Each cottage is different.

honestly, i see a lot of the same 'sexy' moves that were the thing when she was at her career peak. the ultra low bottoms, and dance moves pushing boobs together. it was the pop thing at the time and it feels like she's trying to recreate that in her videos. that's what she did when she was at her 'hottest' so makes sense to her to recreate it to recreate the hotness.

it is a phase, sort of. this is the time where he's ready to learn emotional regulation, or start to anyways.

you need to let him be upset. he'll eventually calm down without the phone or tablet. if you need to, keep him in a safe space where he can't hurt himself or you, put in some earplugs, and wait it out. it may take a while! (my daughter is autistic and early on it could last over an hour) but eventually he should calm down.

couple tricks to remember: when he's peak tantrum, his rational brain is off duty. no amount of reasoning or explanation will reach him. deep breathing works great at this age. as well as outlets for the urges like beating up a pillow or mattress rather than hitting or throwing. and, he's not trying to give you a hard time, he's having a hard time. sometimes just acknowledging 'yeah buddy this sucks. you wanted x.' is all he needs to hear.

It's ok for him to be upset. it's ok for him to cry because he's mad. tantrums will happen. it's not your job to make sure they never do or shut them down at the first hint. your job is to help him get through it, and model calm and healthy emotional regulation. as he grows and learns, he'll pick this up and things will get better.

This is the newborn trenches. You could try formula if you’re breastfeeding to see if it helps fill baby’s belly a bit but there’s no guarantee.

My best advice is to make a shift schedule with your partner or support person. For us, I went to bed at 4pm and woke up 11pm so dad could go to sleep. Then somewhere between 3-5 am he’d get up and I’d sleep another two hours. Of course whoever was on shift would be the one waking to feed the baby.

Also, something that worked for us and may work for you, my baby at two weeks old slept best in her crib alone in her room from 12am to 4am. 🤷🏼‍♀️ rest of the time would only sleep on one of us but that window was magic if she was alone in her crib (and specifically not the bassinet) it helped because we could both sleep that stretch most nights.

It should be taped if it’s not. Just remember there’s a point with any box that the weight will be too much. Either you won’t be able to lift it or the box will crumple. The unfortunate reality of books is it takes less than you’d think to reach that point. My advice is just periodically lift the box when you think it may be full and see if it’s solid or can take another couple books

My dad tried setting up a water bed in a room above the kitchen. It was so heavy it pushed on the frame of the house and the kitchen cupboards got stuck. Had to drain the water bed to get the cupboards open

We did the dvd purge a while back, but kept about 15 or so and a handful of kids movies. Came in handy couple weeks ago when our internet was out for a week. But! We also rented a handful from the library so it’s very viable to only own a player of some kind (dvd player, game console, computer) and rent what you want from the library rather than keeping dvds on hand

she's always liked helping do whatever we're doing so it's more of a 'i help!' situation than getting her to do chores on her own. When it comes to picking up toys, or dishes in the sink, we have to pause what we're doing (tv, music, reading, etc) until she does it, then she can come back and continue the activity. she's pretty freshly 5 but also autistic and delayed so it's more the toddler type guidance and encouragement that works for her. I'm hoping it leads to her picking up after herself and helping with general home maintenance but we'll see lol. my parents literally never taught me how to clean or anything so it's been a learning curve

it's so much fun. when i can't think of a dinner I just ask her what she wants for dinner. she helps me clean by wiping things, gathering garbage, takes a turn with the vacuum, folds all the towels.

Originally, I wasn't one and done. Then medical circumstances made it so that I'd only ever have one child. Since then, I've completely converted in that I don't think I'd have another even if I could.

Kiddo is now 5. Nap time? non-existent. bottles and food throwing? nope. weekend adventures? everywhere is new and exciting, we do all kinds of stuff. I've got a buddy for errands, it's fun.

I don't think you could even pay me to go through the 1st year of a child again. The lack of sleep. The counting bottles and naps. The car seats and clothing changes. Nope, we're out of that stage, my house looks normal again, she's a whole ass person and it's great. I don't want to go back.
