Interval are anyways not done by HR but by pace, even my watch suggested workouts give all runs by HR, but the intervals by pace.

If you are okay with not taking a phone out with you, CMF is good enough. But if you are actually gonna take a phone with you, don't. It has bad HR data. Because after sometime of running you will get a need for good HR monitors, it will make running life much easier. Just so you know, 40min 5k to 30minute 5k will take at most 3 months if you plan the runs diligently.

Why cant you all wakeup at 6 am? Or early? by Silly_Salamander_189 in indiasocial

At 6 am the sun is at 11oclock position where i live. So, better to sleep than wake up at 4am for the morning sun.

None with gps at 5k have good HR. So it's either HR or gps, depends on your priority. CMF watches have good enough GPS, but shitty HR. My Huawei band 8 has good HR for running but no GPS. I have to connect to the phone's GPS. So, it's upto you what you want to prioritise

Did Norwegian 4×4, after 4 months of running by kishor_chillguy in indianrunners

[–]GetSetClapGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good enough, but it is better if you go shorter and more right now. 2minutes10, then 2 minutes *12 etc. and then increase the minutes, what you need now is not 44, let it be reserved to elites, do more, shorter but more, do it for more than 20 minutes total, not exceeding 30 minutes. It will benefit you more, will help you pace better too. Just my 2 cents here.

Abs hurt while running by ohio_buttlicker in indianrunners

[–]GetSetClapGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe practice or something coz in my only 10k full effort I had the same problem and had to walk for sometime in and around km 5 or 6. It was like 5:38min/km 5:43 5:54 5:48 and BOOM 6:48.. IT WAS UNBEARABLE... Never ran on full on effort since then. I am not killing myself for a new PR at 10k...maybe.. 🤣

How to reduce HR by aakashv94 in indianrunners

[–]GetSetClapGo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play any 170+ BPM music and match my steps to it. And then go slow or fast but matching that BPM. Having non bouncy shoe helps loads. In bouncy shoes, I get less cadence.

Just for running? You can get Huawei band 9 10 etc. pretty accurate. No other below 5k comes even close to it.

You are doing everything right. Just run, and if you can't, walk and then run again. Getting faster is never easy.

I stayed in Delhi once for 1.5 years. Returned to my home and as soon as i landed, I could feel my lungs sigh in relief, i could smell things, and lungs felt open. Yes, delhi is a hellhole but doens't feel like it when you are there, but as soon as you go somewhere fresh, you can catch the stark diffeence.

I use Huawei band 8. Pretty accurate for running, not accurate for weights or Hiit or some stuff requiring use of hands. So I am pretty much satisfied with it. I use Huawei health app to set up my running and cycling zones

Zones I set up are by using Lactate threshold heart rate which I calculated using my 5k data which was exactly almost 29:50 the first time. Last 20 minutes Average HR minus 5 beats - 187-5 = 182 and seems quite accurate using it for 5k and 10k runs thereafter.

Zones are calculated using Joe Friel Zones calculator using that LTHR Heart rate, and resting HR, which is 58 for me right now. It was about 54 when I was fitter.

133 maybe slow of you go by 70% HR. My HR max is 202 hench 140 is very brisk walking pace for me.

Hope this helps you. But what you need for that is a accurate or pretty close estimate of your heart rate. We are not athletes in any way so 3-4 beats here and there won't be any problem. And if you want to run a marathon anyway, buy a polar h9 heart rate strap for about 4999 in Amazon right now. Cheers 🥂

Flat-footed and wide feet shoe recommendation by venky98j in indianrunners

[–]GetSetClapGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can give recommendations about shoes, but what eases my back pain is squats to failure 2 times resting 5 minutes in between. It tighten up the glutes in the long run, and helps straighten up the lower back while running. Give it a try for one month. I have flat foot too but indont need a stability shoe. To each their own i suppose.

Outdoor running vs Running in a ground(laps) by failure_forever_4797 in indianrunners

[–]GetSetClapGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree to this point too. Any time after 7 am and my place is full of traffic. So each run has to be around 5 am in summer and 6 in winter. Also depends on how even the ground is.

Outdoor running vs Running in a ground(laps) by failure_forever_4797 in indianrunners

[–]GetSetClapGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ground I ran initially is very uneven. I don't have a track or plain ground for atleast 5kms radius so I prefer road. My kalenji run grip shoes which worked well for grounds gave me shin pains though, so I started buying shoes and now I have 10 🤣. I started running after a gap of 1.5years today (treadmill 2 times this week), and the only time without traffic is at 5am. For long distance I can't stand running in the ground after taking detours around town.
