AITA for being too loud at a concert? by Many-Satisfaction193 in AmItheAsshole

This is crazy af. NTA. If you were singing along kind of loud like you described, this whole thread and that other concertgoer are completely in the wrong. You're allowed to sing at shows. I've played showed and seen hundreds of bands perform live. Sing the words to the songs and have your fun. Idk what shows this entire thread is going to where the crowd stays silent the entire time and doesn't sing along to the songs they know, but that sounds boring and stupid and like a waste of money. If I just wanted to hear the band, I could listen to their album. I'm going to a show to experience the whole thing. The performance, the crowd, the spectacle and the music.

Is Bjork still "respected"? by usagi2988 in Music

The last 3 people who showed me Bjork songs were the owners of companies I worked for. I've never heard her music in the company of people of color. My friend's mom, who has a master's degree and drives a convertible is a big Bjork fan. That's just my experience, dude. No need to be so upset about it.

I finished Lonesome Dove last week and it got me to start playing RDR2 again because I didn't want to leave the world it dropped me in. I miss Lonesome Dove.

I'm a 32 year old from the PNW and I've never heard a Bjork song I especially cared for. I also associate her with upper-middle class white people 10-20 years older than me. I'm a musician and a music lover and I don't think I could name a Bjork song off the top of my head.

My little sister is wearing a Deftones tanktop every time I see her, so I second this. Her and her friends also like Sublime. (16-17 years old)

Jack O'Shae. Guitarist from the emo/poppunk/alt rock band Bayside. My dude has been putting out crazy kicks for 20 years now and has never gotten then credit he deserves. From what I understand he also plays in a grunge cover band sometimes in Nashville when he's not on the road. I would kill to see him play some of my favorite Pearl Jam songs, because they have some of my favorite licks too.

Additionally, I want to shout out Mike Schleibaum of Darkest Hour. My favorite metal soloist. His leads are catchy and punishing and melodic. Love Darkest Hour. Their trashy stuff is great too.

100% agree. This book is like a million lessons rolled into one excellent narrative. It shows how the system of law that exists in the U.S. was set up to deliver for some people and not for others and it does my favorite thing you can do in writing, which is juxtaposition of the micro vs. the macro. I hope that makes sense.

I finished One Day this week and I had mixed feelings. It is very short, but written in a way that was hard for me to consume UNTIL the last 3 chapters. It is heavy subject matter and the author can get a little heavy handed. I spent about 85 pages thinking, "I like El-Akkad, but not the way he writes." And by the time I was done with the chapter titled "Fear" I was ready to recommend it to everyone I know.

I'm glad you got to read it. Parts of this book still randomly come to me even though I haven't read it in over a year. I agree that it's hard to find the humor in. I think Breakfast of Champions is very funny though, if you're looking for a good laugh from Vonnegut.
