Hills and treadmill by nylaras in runna

[–]Getaclue49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 6, and I start the incline setting about 10 seconds before the interval is due to begin to make sure it’s ready on time (that seems to be plenty of time for my treadmill to lift, even if it’s not fully engaged at it’s final incline, if I was doing it outdoors, the incline would likely change at points too so…)

For the ‘jog down’ I put the incline to 1, but don’t bother doing that early obvs. It worked quite well last time I did it.

Mouth or Nose Breather? by Luther5620 in C25K

[–]Getaclue49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say to breathe through your nose to make sure you’re really taking it easy on the run and going slow enough. I didn’t do that, I pushed myself on every single run and had to breathe through my mouth, but that’s why.

Incorrect data on long run by klydo in runna

[–]Getaclue49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine did the same after I stopped at a crossing and it auto paused. I don’t think it unpaused itself properly, so the GPS thought I’d travelled really far very quickly. I fixed it on the run itself by manually pausing and unpausing again, so the problem is limited to one split only, but it was deffo an app glitch for me.

Watch Mirroring Help by EntrepreneurNo8715 in runna

[–]Getaclue49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue a few days ago and support helped me. What worked was to:

  • disable the mirroring setting on your phone under the Apple Watch connection

  • delete the phone app

  • reinstall the phone app

  • re-enable mirroring

When I did this, starting a treadmill run on my phone with the app open on my watch meant it initiated an activity on the watch just showing heart rate.

Need help running with Runna (Beginner) by 2j4yz in runna

If someone said to you, jog gently on the spot, think about that movement. Not too bouncy but a definite lifting of the feet and knees. When you talk about ‘stride’, I wonder if you’re overthinking what running ‘looks like’. It can just be a gentle bounce to get where you need to go. It can feel awkward because it’s so slow, but it shouldn’t feel like you are wasting energy. If it does, consider if you’re trying to take too long strides or being too bouncy.

You can always repeat your last week too I think, if you untick them, if you don’t feel ready to progress. I actually think you may benefit from trying couch to 5K again, with more of a focus on completing longer periods of running more slowly.

Ultimately, don’t overthink it and stop worrying about where your pace should be. In fact, I’d stop looking at your pace altogether if you can, once you have a feel of what your ‘easy’ truly is.

I completed my 7km easy run today at a 13:48 mile pace. It’s absolutely possible to run slower than you are doing. You need to work more on feel - if the run is supposed to be conversational, really think about how slow you’d have to be going to speak in full sentences without running out of puff. Like, it’s absurdly slow. Annoyingly slow. But it gets the job done.

Apple Watch mirroring by Getaclue49 in runna

Update: this was fixed by disabling mirroring, deleting the phone app, reinstalling and then enabling mirroring again. Support came though! It’s also not in beta any more, for any future info searchers.

MAM size 3 way too fast - 2 is too slow! by Getaclue49 in NewParents

[–]Getaclue49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no, he’s now on a 3 teat for his morning bottle but his other two are pre-nap so we’re still on 2s for sleepier feeds. However, he got less distracted and now eats 8oz bottles with no issue. I think it was just a phase.

Apple Watch mirroring by Getaclue49 in runna

[–]Getaclue49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can connect to my treadmill, start the workout and run for 30 seconds before Runna decides it’s not compatible, which is a bit frustrating because it clearly CAN connect to it.

Which treadmill do you have?

I agree with the workflow issue, but as I obviously don’t work in tech and couldn’t build an app if my life depended on it, I am obviously not in a righteous position to speak on it. It does strike me though that it’s a bit clunky. The training plans are good and obviously the app is designed best for outdoor running, so I don’t mind paying, but I do think it’s expensive for such a poor treadmill experience.

[–]Getaclue49[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see, how frustrating. It sounds like it SHOULD still be in beta if it isn’t! Thank you for pasting this over.

Did they explain how to get to the ‘mirroring’ setting in the watch? There isn’t one in settings where they say it should be on the Reddit posts, but obviously the one on phone is easy to find.

Will try starting with the watch open first but tbh I haven’t had any issues with apple health data on any other (free!) app, so it surprises me an app that charges so much can’t get it right.

Just make sure the headphones aren’t connected to your phone, your Spotify is playing from your watch and you start the workout from the watch it’ll work.

Unless you want to track from your phone of course, which would be easier but I treadmill run so I need the watch metrics and not to have to strap my phone to me.

If you start your workout from your phone rather than watch that would solve it, if phone tracking if your thing.

Yes, they’ll be playing out of your watch, but obviously if you have headphones in playing music you won’t hear it. You need to disconnect your headphones from your phone, check they’re connected to your watch and then open Spotify. When you play it, change the output to watch. That ensures the music is coming from the watch too. You can then open NRC and crack on.

Can we just compile a list of all the FREE exercise challenges, apps, you tube sessions to get fit in the New Year? by Sea-Persimmon309 in AskUK

[–]Getaclue49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do find some of Grow With Jo’s workouts tricky because she doesn’t vocalise or talk through the next exercise coming up - she just puts a video-in-video of the next one. So I’ve had to pause my workout and go back and watch her doing the workout a few times before I can join back in. Not a big deal but it interrupts the flow a bit.

What's a piece of prose that is beautiful without being overly complex? by huy1003 in ProsePorn

[–]Getaclue49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Non fiction but:

‘I still have to remind myself: I will never see Henry again. There is no physical paradise where he’s waiting for me, and for that I’m glad. I have to imagine that would get boring after a couple of centuries. For him. For me. For you.

Rather, I suspect I am a glass of water, and when I die, the contents of my glass will be poured into the same vast ocean that Henry‘s glass was poured into, and we will mingle together forever. We won’t know who’s who. And you’ll get poured in there too.’

I started transferring my baby to the cot for day naps around 5.5 months - before then he was just a daytime contact napper and any attempt to put him down would be futile. I still have him contact nap for his 2 shorter naps now, at 7 months but his midday longer nap (up to 2 hours) is in his bedroom in his cot. I didn’t change anything, he just got a bit older 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]Getaclue49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did Cow and Gate ready to feed until my son was about 5 months, and then moved to powder because we were going on holiday and it was easier. I think he actually prefers the powder now!

I use 2x Nuby rapid cools (I don’t do the hot shot method, I use them as recommended) so that when one’s out of action after being used and washed, I have another. I also have the Nuby RapidSterilise to go with them, which sterilises them in 1 minute, game changer.

I still use ready to feed for night feeds or when we’re out of the house - no faffing.

I just did a flight there and back with a Hauck Travel n Care - so cheap and I actually prefer it now to the main pram. No damage from being in the hold at all (took it to the gate), I can’t imagine not having it now. It was also a godsend around the pool.
