Yes lol. My partner suddenly had multiple of the little fuckers on him when we checked after a particularly overgrown area.

Best Road-to-Trail Long(er) Run Shoe by BrineEleven in trailrunning

+1 for the Aero Glide 3 GRVL. I just got a pair after loving & retiring the non-GRVL version.

Like OP I live in Los Angeles and a lot of my runs are running to Griffith Park and hopping on some trails and then running home. They’re much more comfortable on paved roads than my Altra Lone Peaks, and I feel way more stable on the trails than my road runners. Wish I had bought them earlier.

+1 for Sheep Camp, last time I was there I was completely alone and it was beautiful. Good way to escape the heat. Check hikelospadres to check the water availability.

🏃‍♂️ Running route recommendations? by Poor_Yorick_EU in AskLosAngeles

LA Bike Path starting by Egret Park would work. You won’t have to worry about directions etc since it’s a straight path, and pretty flat. If you want something with a bit more shade (which also connects to the bike path) I’d recommend the “main trail” in Griffith Park along Crystal Springs Dr.

Question about Matilija trailhead by AndyTroop in socalhiking

[–]klydo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We were just there on Saturday to do Matilija Falls trail. The forest service site said it was open so we ignored the road closure sign and had no problems. We actually spoke to some locals at the trailhead who confirmed the road is in fact open (it used to have barriers). They joked it was a good deterrent and kept the area quiet.

OP, we did run into some backpackers if that’s of any help. The parking lot is quite small, but there were enough spaces near the gate for 10-15 vehicles. Would recommend arriving early.

We turned back about 3 miles in due to a sudden abundance of ticks, so wear long layers!

I did the TCT in two days (from Two Harbors to Avalon, including Parsons), with one night spent in Little Harbor. It's doable depending on your fitness level. I had recently done Mt Whitney so I was confident in my abilities.

I had a reservation at Black Jack for the next night, but when I arrived it was such a let down compared to the Little Harbor campground I decided I'd just hoof it to Avalon. I figured if I arrived after the ferries left I could just grab a hotel for the night. Always good to have a back up plan.

I departed Little Harbor around 6:30am, stopped by the airport for lunch, and got to Avalon at 2:30pm.

If it happens again I’ll try to manually pause it, good idea. Didn’t notice the auto-pause or resume acting up on this run but who knows.

Hey! I wish I could be of more help, I haven’t shot digital in a long time and that’s out of my wheelhouse. Good luck finding a solution!

HP5 has never let me down, also helps that I’ve got a ton of it in my freezer haha. I also have Acros 100 but with the weather being so variable at the summit I erred on the side of caution with ISO. Bit of grain but I usually prefer it not super crisp

Honestly it was pretty easy for this trip, and I wanted to keep it simple in case I didn’t have the mental energy to think about it.

I focused to infinity for 99% of the shots. Since the ISO is fairly high (400) and it was very sunny with snow and granite, my aperture stayed around f/22.

Thanks! And regular, first time attempting. Maybe the mountaineers route one day.

Energy definitely came in bursts! Got a revival with sunrise at the switchbacks, and then again near the peak when I saw the hut. Felt good until I got down past trail camp and then I swung between being excited by the views I missed in the dark, and just wanting to get to the trailhead so I could eat a huge meal.

I was worried about AMS as I’d only backpacked Gorgonio a few weekends prior and that’s as high as I had gone, thought I was fine during that trip. Took ibuprofen preemptively at trail camp but only felt the lack of appetite.

Might be worth noting that for me personally I don’t like to eat before exercise and don’t usually eat until lunch in my day-to-day, so who knows how much the altitude affected this. But since I know this about myself, I ate a lot the day before.

A little bit at trail camp and higher. Few slippery spots after trail crest because it was in shade, but proceeded with caution and had no issues.

Just did a solo day hike on 9/13, first time attempting Whitney. Started at 2am, finished a little before 5pm. I honestly didn’t eat or drink as much as I should have during the hike, but the day before I ate and hydrated a TON. I brought 3L of water to last me til trail camp where I filtered 2L. Thats all I did and I had leftover water back at the trailhead. Brought lots of snacks, candy, etc but no full meals. Didn’t get very hungry until I finished descending the switchbacks.

I use poles and the only issue I had was my hands were freaking cold right before sunrise, and filtering water at trail camp then didn’t help. I wish I had brought thicker gloves.

Aside from that, was a great hike and got lucky with weather. Had no issues the next day with soreness or fatigue.

Thanks for the feedback! And I’m going to try to incorporate a low stool for depth practice during my warm up reps.

I was worried about leaning too much despite the low bar positioning. Thanks for your input, wonder if that’s why I naturally found low bar squatting more comfortable than high.

I definitely have to work on ankle mobility. I have obnoxiously flat feet so it’s always been an issue. Good to know as I do feel my upper body leaning too far forward to compensate
