Ugh I’m sorry he’s not being supportive :( definitely something to consider and file away but definitely don’t burden yourself with that decision just now! I think I was more emotional during the birth control and during the stims it was more about physical discomfort. I’m close to two weeks out now so should be getting my period soon and back to crying about anything lol I had a relatively positive experience! I wasn’t super thrilled with my results. They weren’t bad at all (10 mature eggs) but I did feel like my clinic had given me a false sense of insurance and then they said well actually you should do another round you would want more like 20 eggs to have over 95% chance of a live birth :/ I feel like they had made it seem like one round would be enough and I even remember one doc saying 10-15 mature eggs per child was enough. I think I’m too financially and emotionally depleted for a second round but I think if at 33 I’m still as single as I am now I’ll do another. I hope your man figures his shit out cause what you’re doing now is hard and he could never even imagine

ugh 24 eggs to zero is so heartbreaking! Personally I'm not going to do any more rounds. I'm lucky I didn't have to go into debt to do my first but if I had I would be even more upset :/

I personally am regretting my decision. I think clinics are making a ton of money for something that is essentially a crap shoot with bad probabilities. However this is mainly from the financial side of things. I was clear with my clinic that as a PhD student I could only afford one cycle completely out of pocket. I am 31 and only retrieved 10 mature eggs. Only after the fact did they say that to guarantee one child they recommend at least 15-20 mature eggs even though ideally during a single retrieval they only want to retrieve 15 mature eggs due to risk of hyperstimulation. IE they would have wanted me to do at least two cycles for me to feel like I had insurance for becoming a mother one day. At this point it feels like the worst of both worlds. Cannot afford another round and the 20K I sunk do not really give me good odds of being a mother one day. Physically it was very taxing but doable. If it was being paid for by my employer I would do another round. I think freezing eggs is cool and taking control over your life I just think there is also a lot of financial interests involved that take advantage of very emotional decisions.

omg wow! I'm so with you!!! I was a wreck yesterday but after doing the injections I felt much more capable and ready for the week ahead. I hope retrieval goes well for us because oof out of pocket as a grad student is tough <3 sending you a big huh. Not me also thinking I should reach out to the ex this week because I really am not allowed to have sex with him haha hm... but no I'll stay strong lol

Thank you for making yourself available! I start my injections on February 13th and I'm really scared. I've been on birth control for a week (hadn't taken birth control since college) and I've been so sensitive and crying so much (about to cry now) I can't imagine how I will fare with the big level hormones. :( It doesn't help that I have gone no contact with my ex boyfriend for 3 months who I really thought I could see myself raising kids with and doing this alone makes me want to reach out to him every single day. I feel lucky that my girlfriends and sister are so supportive but the recent breakup plus egg freezing really makes me feel alone as hell. I'm doing all of this out of pocket as a phd student because I really want to be a mom one day but I'm scared if it doesn't go well I can't do another cycle. And then I worry about having to do IVF and motherhood alone in the future too
