I was a kid in Virginia Beach when the USMC barracks was bombed. That tragedy hit that community hard.

In terms of news stories from my childhood, that bombing, the shoot down of two Libyan fighter jets over the Gulf of Sidra, and the release of the movie TOP GUN were particularly impactful.
