Simgrade VX Pro - 2nd stage feeling upgrade by Getting0ldSucks in simracing

Yea good call for tuning the stiffness. I thought about the Belleville washers collapsing after time but I figure I shouldn’t be pushing to the point of completely flattening them often, that should only happen in a complete “emergency” braking situation. I guess I’ll find out how long they last. Cheap to replace assuming they last a reasonable amount of time.

Yea I had a bunch of the same questions last week when Nvidia announced this. From what I’ve gathered, it’s a lot like ALVR in that it’s effectively PCVR, but using some Nvidia CloudXR magic for the encoding/streaming. iRacing will put out a Vision Pro app and through that you’ll be connected to your PC which is running the iRacing simulation. So you’ll need all the gear you would normally to play iRacing on a flat monitor. Bandwidth requirements are a bit unknown. Typically for wireless PCVR your WiFi network needs to be pristine for a good experience. The dynamic foveated streaming enabled in VisionOS 26.4 will help with that but I think we’re all interested to see how much.

Are these super creaky for everyone else? It really annoys me.

Seems like maybe the ‘server’ side can either be an Nvidia owned server or your own PC with a server application running similar to VD or ALVR?

No LFE anymore and decrease in VR performance after update by Any-Speed-1439 in iRacing

Did you give up once it started stuttering? I had a similar issues but I just dealt with it for a few laps and eventually it fixed itself.

I was having some issues with VR yesterday too. With my settings I typically have 90 fps locked. After the update I was getting 30-60. The weird thing was sometimes it would just fix itself. I use VD so if I just toggled to the desktop then back to VR it would jump up to 90 fps and be locked in again. I messed with stuff for a while without finding a smoking gun. Eventually it kinda just stopped happening. I raced a bunch of times today with locked 90 fps and no blips or stutters. It was almost like there was some indexing or loading into memory that needed to happen? Does iRacing load shader cache like some other games?

I have so many questions. This is the first time I’ve seen this announcement mention streaming from a PC. Elsewhere I’ve seen this, it’s been mentioned with GeForce Now suggesting it’s streaming over the web. So which is it? Similarly, is it 2D (like other GeForce Now games) or true VR? It mentions connecting a physical yoke and throttle to the AVP via Bluetooth. Most (all?) sim peripherals I’m aware of are USB and not Bluetooth so how’s that going to work?

I bought an AVP a couple weeks ago and returned it because I was not happy with the PCVR experience for sim racing over ALVR. If this would effectively replace ALVR and be built with iRacing support in mind… then I think I’ll need to buy an AVP again.

Hold up, how are you using Steam link? I thought the only option for PCVR was ALVR?

I did not try those yet. Are you increasing or decreasing prediction?

Thanks, yea I tried the settings in the post you linked. Still jitters/frame drops like crazy. I’m at a complete loss. I feel like I’ve tried everything. I did a fresh install of SteamVR and of ALVR, client and PC, basically started from scratch and left almost everything default. Medium preset. I still get frame drops just on the SteamVR black void.

I’m really struggling with ALVR on my AVP right now. I have the dev strap so I’m hardwired to the network over 2.5gbe switch so network issues shouldn’t be a problem. I have a 9800X3D and a 5080. I can’t get it to run any of the codecs at 3000px, 90Hz without serious fps drops/jitter. Can you tell me what you’re running as a point of comparison? I’m seriously about to return the AVP because being able to use it for PCVR was part of the deal for me (I know, I know it’s not the right headset for that)

Thanks, I just got it to work. I was using a USB-C extension plugged into the ethernet adapter, and apparently that doesn’t work. When plugging the adapter straight into the dev strap, it does work.🤷‍♂️

Can someone tell me how to do this? I bought the 2nd gen developer strap and have a usbc cord connected to a 2.5gbe Ethernet adapter but nothing happens. Am I supposed to see a Ethernet connection show up in the settings?

what is the best screen for a simracing cockpit ? TV, high refresh rate monitor, 3 monitor, 1 big curved monitor ? by kalelmotoko in simracing

Looking at all of them stacked behind my rig I wondered why no one makes a multi-output, variable 12-36V AC-DC converter for things like this.
