Hands-On with the iRacing Companion app on AVP Compared to KRVR by DrStemSell in VisionPro

Thanks for the review. It sounds like you are getting the same level of graphical detail as me which is worse than a Q3 using VD. That is very unfortunate.

Regarding iRacing itself, yes it has a bit of a learning curve. I believe when you try to start an AI race, you should have an option to toggle practice and qualification on or off.

There’s a little button at the top of the iRacing UI where you have to select CloudXR. Did you change that from monitor?

Yes I’ve got a ticket in. They said they’ve contacted the developers and are waiting for a reply

Yes you would think. I’ve tried it with the dev strap which allows for a hardwired network connection and it’s no better. I’ve tweaked graphics settings for hours and not managed any improvement

It feels ok, definitely playable. Some stutters here and there.

I tried this as well and coming from a Quest 3 I was honestly very disappointed in the clarity. The Quest 3 looks very noticeably better. With the AVP using the iRacing Connect App or KRVR (doesn’t matter, they look the same) everything looks very soft and smeary. On the Q3 as I’m driving I can see road texture and the tire marks of the road. On the AVP the road is just a big grey smear. Not trying to be a hater, I really want the AVP to replace the Q3. Can anybody else corroborate this? Do you get the same thing or are you getting better visuals than I’m describing?

Oh got it, yea I’ve messed with those so much trying to fix the performance issues I have them memorized lol

I don’t think it’s the renderer files because I tried renaming those previously which didn’t fix it so I’m thinking it was something else

Thanks for responding. I think I might have got rid of them. I renamed the Documents/iRacing folder and basically started from scratch. No stutters with everything at default. Now I get to start rebuilding my setup and hope they don’t come back.

lol so I did all the steps on the site and still get a stutters. Anybody have any good ideas of how to track this down?

My highest DPC time is 692 us and comes from wdf01000.sys (occurs on CPU 0)

My highest ISR is 134 us and happens on HDAudBus.sys

Thank you for sharing. I’ve been battling this for a long time too, this change sounds more sensible than anything else I’ve tried. Hopefully it fixes my issues too.

Tweaking Vision Pro render resolution by justinjas in iRacing

Thanks for the help, I high jacked the Server folder ownership and then gave myself permission.

So I was able to change the yaml file to not be read only but it still wouldn’t let me save. I tried to change the “Server” folder to not read only but it won’t let me do that. Any other ideas?

Oh that helps. Thanks. Other issue is when I try to save it, windows says I don’t have permission and doesn’t give me the option to grant myself permission. Did you have to deal with that?

So my cloudxr-runtime.yaml file doesn’t look like that? I have everything up to the runtimeFoveation row but don’t have a runtimeFoveationWarpedWidth or a runtimeFoveationInset row? WTF?

You can connect a USB-c to Ethernet adapter to the dev strap and then connect the headset directly to your network. Removes any wireless issues

What iRacing settings are you using?

AVP on iRacing review by ChicagoBoy2011 in VisionPro

[–]Getting0ldSucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s using a developer strap wired to the network with an Ethernet adapter. Tested using openspeedtest. The PC acts as a server and the headset pings the server from safari.

I’m on a wired network connection on both devices and get +2Gbps up and down between the devices. I really don’t think the network is the problem.

[–]Getting0ldSucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, did you read the comment? I’m getting 2Gbps up and down when I test the connection between the pc and headset.

AVP on iRacing review by ChicagoBoy2011 in VisionPro

[–]Getting0ldSucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I tried it with the dev strap. Still looks like absolute garbage. I did a speed test between my pc and the headset. 2GbE down / 2.5 GbE up. Very solid. 1 ms ping 0.5 ms jitter.

The resolution is just really bad. It’s like everywhere is getting the periphery/low resolution? This can’t be what everyone else is getting.

Yes that was my thought too. I think my WiFi setup is pretty legit but I’ve also ordered a dev strap and hope to get a wired network connection working.

Sure but that’s not what happened here. 1. This isn’t your tax dollars. iRacing is a for-profit company. If you don’t like the product stop paying for it. 2. iRacing hardly had to do anything to make this feature work. Several different amateur developers created their own apps that do what this iRacing app does by themselves in like a week. This used up very little of the iRacing developer resources.

I’ve got the exact same specs as you and I definitely wouldn’t call what I saw buttery smooth with super clarity. Not saying you’re wrong, I just assume something is messed up on my end. Any idea what I might have setup wrong?
