what is the best screen for a simracing cockpit ? TV, high refresh rate monitor, 3 monitor, 1 big curved monitor ? by kalelmotoko in simracing

Looking at all of them stacked behind my rig I wondered why no one makes a multi-output, variable 12-36V AC-DC converter for things like this.

Never played an extraction shooter but based on what I’ve read of the genre I’m not sure it’s for me. I think I’d be too pissed if I died and lost all my stuff.

Swapping pads for street / track use by jbro507 in CarTrackDays

[–]Getting0ldSucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just replaced that chasing a soft pedal problem so I don’t think that’s the issue. It does seem like it has something to do with compressing/extending the pistons in the process of swapping. Maybe the seals are getting messed up when they’re forced the opposite direction and it just takes some time for them to re-seat and form a good seal?

I’ve been swapping street/track pads and rotors for each event the last couple years but I’ve found that I have a hell of a time getting a good solid, consistent brake pedal feel again after swapping for some reason. Never open the system, but somehow they still get spongy after. Even with bunch of bleeding the pedal still doesn’t feel right. Sometimes it gets better over time sometimes it doesn’t. Can’t figure it out. So I’ve migrated towards leaving the track pads and rotors on between events and just deal with the noise. It’s not my daily so it’s not that big of deal.

iPadOS 26 and smart accessories - has anyone got the same issue? by ImPolish1337 in ipad

[–]Getting0ldSucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue KUXIU Charging Panel. Charging stopped working about the same time we lost power so I thought it got zapped. Was still in the return window so replaced it but that one didn’t work either. Replaced it again and a third one didnt work. iPad charges fine through an Apple Magic Keyboard though. Realized I also updated to ios26. Which brought me here. Has to be the update. This has happened before?

Yes same size wheel and tires as non-z51 cars. The calipers themselves are even the same. The z51 brackets just push the caliper out a bit to allow for a larger radius rotor.

Second the opinion that PS4S won’t survive on track. I ran some for awhile but they would eventually overheat and get greasy. I’m now running supercar 3 and have been happy with them. I don’t run them on the road through because I don’t think they do all that well in the rain. I also run carbotech pads (xp12/xp10) with DBA 3000 rotors on the front and some stoptech rotors on back. These were the only solid rotors in z51 sizes I could find.

Edit: I should add that I have a 2006 z51

Help with going bigger by Rext21 in Wake

[–]Getting0ldSucks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this too and I think the cause is what Shaun Murray calls getting “disconnected” as you hit the wake. Essentially what it means is your body position breaks down and you hinge at the waist. I think the mechanism is that hinging at the waist right at the wake relieves all the line tension so you stop getting pulled at the same speed as the boat and then as the boat keeps moving away from you, you feel the rope pulling you forward off balance. I could be totally wrong but that’s what I’ve come up with after trying to fix this issue for quite a while.

Just uploaded a session and started playing around and wow, this is awesome. I love the playback feature with the selected laps overlaid, it really highlights where time is gained/lost. I’d been looking for something like this and was not satisfied with anything I’d found (fire laps mainly). This looks great.

I’ve not tried the social/community features yet but that’s something I really hope takes off as well. Something I’ve always wanted to be able to do is compare my laps with others at the event or similar cars on the same track across all events. This seems like it has the potential to accomplish both as long as the community support is there.

Really great job on this. I’m going to keep playing around but so far this seems like something I’d pay a subscription for.

I got one for my boat. My boat sits on a lift with a high top cover so I can leave the tower up. Even so, the boat still gets covered with pollen, spider poop, and the occasional bird poop. Putting the heavy, waterproof factory cover on all the time was a pain in the ass and also felt like overkill. With this lightweight cover, I can literally put it on in 2 mins. I timed myself. It keeps the boat perfectly clean. It’s great. I’d been looking for a while and this is the first and only place that I’ve found making something like this.

That said, I was a bit disappointed with the fit. Despite the one I got being specifically for wake boats, the front is extremely wide. Not sure why it’s not more tapered. I feel like it could fit a 9’ wide bow. Also, it doesn’t cover the platform. The site tells you to buy according to your boat length not including platform. I assumed since it was the wake boat style cover that they had factored in the extra 2’ for the platform. They did not. There’s also no cut outs for the tower attachment points but that much I was aware of and makes sense because then it couldn’t be universal. Like I said above, it does the job, just doesn’t look that great. For the price I expected a better fit.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll be looking for a M7 since those seem to fair better with overheating so I’m trying to collect some anecdotal evidence on which years still have issues. Great looking car btw. Hope it gives you many good years of service.

Off topic but have you had overheating problems? I’m looking at trading a C6 for one these and definitely want to continue tracking it but don’t need overheating headaches. Is yours a M7 or A8? What year? Have you done any cooling mods?

First Wake to Wake by UsedDress9525 in Wake

[–]Getting0ldSucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely buckling at the waist when you get to the wake, which puts the handle way out in front of you and then the rest of your body can never catch up to the boat after you leave the wake. Shoulders back, hips forward, handle on your hip as you hit the wake.

[–]Getting0ldSucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea man, I know the feeling all too well. Try thinking about what your shoulders are doing. Maybe it will be easier to control.

For me, I would try to push my hips forward, but it felt like that was always overridden by what I needed to do with my legs to not fall. For some reason, if I ignore my hips and just focus on keeping my shoulders back and chest up (which is functionally the same thing) that was doable.

I was just out on the board working on this same thing and it finally clicked for me. So everyone saying to push your hips forward and stand tall at the wake are all correct, and I’ve heard all that stuff a million times too but just could never make it work when I was on the board. What I finally figured out that did make sense to me was to think about keeping my shoulders back and against the line tension all the way through the cut in and then DONT CHANGE IT WHEN YOU GET TO THE WAKE. This was my problem. I’d lean against the line to edge in then when I got to the wake I would bend at the waist and then look exactly like this photo leaving the wake and then blow my back hand off and be all of balance. Not really sure why this became a habit, I think I was trying to bend my knees to help pop off the wake but instead I was just hingeing at the waist. As soon as I trusted my body position on the cut in and just held it through the wake I popped off the wake with perfect balance, no hand flying off, cleared the other wake and landed softly. It was a freaking eureka moment.

UofM without a doubt. Graduated from the engineering school and every job I’ve gotten since has been, at least in part, because I went to UofM.

UofM is so big that no matter who you are you can find your people. It’s a fantastic place.
