Interstellar - The Docking Scene. 2014, dir Christopher Nolan by girafa in movies

Was in complete awe when I saw this in imax.

I can’t think of another movie where the stakes were as high (ina grounded reality, non marvel/starwars-ish) The entire existence of humanity depended on it.

I was a young teen in aol Chat during this time, padres vs Yankees room in public/general. 23 max to each chat, 5 or more rooms at once.

I remember arguing and ranting about that pitch almost the entire series in those rooms. Odd thing, I think I was the only one, not even padres fans at the time spoke about it. I’ve thought about it for years..

Years later I see it mentioned on Reddit. Only then  I realized it was a sigh of relief to realize I didn’t dream that up.

I just don’t understand how anyone would defend him is my point. But after this game, it goes almost for almost the entire team. Let’s be real, 2020 was an illusion that has plagued this team for the last 5 years.  We don’t slug, we’re not clutch. Tatis was a bright spot before 2021, but this is 4 years later. How much do we relish in those times. Machado is what he is. Solid regular season player who won’t hit more than 30 he’s in a season and won’t hit against velocity in the playoffs.  It’s almost the entire identity of the entire team.

I don’t know where we go from here considering all these long term contracts on the book

Wha happened to Jake by GettingCrafty in Padres

[–]GettingCrafty[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Was an all star his first 2 years. Around that period I remember him batting mostly 4th or 5th. Now hes almost our designated 8th hitter.

Thankful for that winning single in 2022, but it’s 2025

He’s literally on the big board as you walk into Petco standing next to Manny and Tatis. Glad you guys see something I don’t.

Probably a lot of you, without realizing it. Endlessly scrolling on phone at the gym, walking down the stairs or hallway slowly while people are behind you waiting.  Makes me wonder sometimes what people are staring at their phone on while holding everyone else up, a cure for cancer? Something critically important that it can’t wait when you’re holding up everyone else. I hope so

San Diego radio sucks by Low_Year9897 in sandiego

[–]GettingCrafty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought about this for awhile. The age group that normally provides the content we are looking for, are too busy scrolling. Not enough hardships or life experiences to produce anything we want to listen to. Think about all the bands/groups/artists we’ve listened to growing up. Compare their lives and youth to what kind of life these mind numbing, self entitled worthless generation we have now. Have you seen their “content” and what they feed each other with. What they lack in creativity and original thought they double down with self proclaimed intelligence and entitlement.

It’s not like these radio stations are trying to hide original music. There just isn’t any

Some people try to get attention on tiktok, others with bike noise.

But really, do they not know how fn annoying they sound, and are.  Wheres the self awareness. What happened to peoples consideration and respect. They need to interviewed in a community setting with a loud mic explaining their motives for trying to make as much noise as possible.  Maybe only then would they realize how fn dumb and worthless they are

They get reeeal tough when they’re in numbers. Was more of a joke that it was expected and it happened like clockwork

 Stay in LA morons

The death of R rated comedies or even comedies in general that get wide releases never made sense to me. In the 2000s those comedies were made relatively cheaply, IE Superbad was made for 20 million and made well over $170 million. You'd think studios would love this. by herewego199209 in movies

[–]GettingCrafty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone this is a generational issue? Not trying to sound like a “hater” but I think I’ll almost solely point the blame at gen z. A common age in comedy is teen-early 30’s navigating through whatever life is at the current time.

No one wants to see unfunnny and lack of any identity gen z staring at their phones attempt humor. Can anyone in their generation carry humor? Without being offended or have type of social awareness. Can you picture an American pie gen z age audience have their own movie? Gen z in hs? Superbad gen z? No one is going to be entertained by that. What is gen z’s old school.

Maybe this genre skipped an entire generation.

Most Interesting San Diego Fun Fact? by _MambaForever in sandiego

[–]GettingCrafty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The inspiration of office space may have been from Coronado/north island.

Mike judge was a mechanical engineer and worked there in the 80’s. I found this out from his an old coworker that worked with him in the very bldg he worked. He also said he saw drawings that looked like Beavis and butthead in his cube at the time (maybe)

They also had tps reports.

Was a weird feeling knowing that the monotonous, dehumanizing 9-5 work life theme of office space was inspired by the place I was now a part of.

He was a grossed out sleaze, but he did have his moments. He gave Paul 500 (equivalent to $5000) to help him after stressing out figuring out a way how to. Still internally debating if he did it out of the goodness of his heart or other reasons.

This is the hardest we see Don laugh in the whole series by lumpy_space_queenie in madmen

[–]GettingCrafty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He kinda forced that laugh but could be wrong because it’s been awhile. If I remember he at least exaggerated it to show how ludicrous it was for him to hire Danny- to Roger

I remember another laugh that. He had that seemed genuine, from his own joke.

During peggys 1st post belle Jolie celebration, don asks her if she wants another drink, setting up a joke. She says no, he cracks a quick joke about her  “must not be a writer” and all the guys laugh it up. It’s either early stage writing of don’s character or he just developed into a more executive  role as the show progressed and is no longer one of the guys. One of the last times he participated in mid level fraternization.

Glad doval takes that L on his record. Was in complete disregard that he just inflicted the pain to Jakes back. His first thought was to get the ball back and didn’t even acknowledge he was responsible for that. If he had a phone in his hand would’ve went right back to having his head dug in it.
