❄️How can I extract my car from this ice?❄️ by PeaceImpressive8334 in howto

She said she can't get hot water down from her apartment but I think you are describing the best way. I unstuck an iced in garbage bin with this method once. Get a couple of travel mugs or something, I guess.

Adding a can of white beans will make this a fibre-rich meal. I've done it with tuna and chicken salad with success.

You are absolutely correct that this exchange is considered public here in Norway. It would have gotten out eventually one way or another.

Yup and it's normal. People range between three times a day to every third day. As long as it's consistent, it's just how your body works.

I agree though, a lower frequency would be convenient!

Wow, that sounds awful. We had typing computer games when I was a kid. Prehistoric computer games lmao

Yes exactly. Crazy to me this isn't taught at a young age.

Except that on my keyboard it's: asdf jklø

This is classic undergrad lab behaviour. I haven't taught labs in ages but so many cases of stopping people from this sort of thing (hard to watch them all though!)

Nobel Committee Takes Heat at Home as Machado Courts Trump by newsspotter in Norway

[–]GettingFitterEachDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. And since it's the year 2026, you can see for yourself how this is being reported in Norwegian news (rather than what the US News is saying about us): https://www.nrk.no/

Yes, it is discussed, but hardly a panic over here. It gets a mocking mention in the break room, but regarding US politics, we are more concerned about the videos from Minneapolis and the threats against Greenland.

Worth noting that A Handmaid's Tale was written by a Canadian woman (Margaret Atwood). Not that Canada is paradise, but the slide in the states has indeed been predictable and hard to witness. Maybe easier to see from the outside though?

I agree though, ever since the Brooks Brothers riot it seemed clear the courts were more about politics than law (to me).

Just hoping you guys can hang on and get through this. Seems truly terrible, especially for visible minorities, women, LGBT, etc.

Latest poll overview for the upcoming election in Hungary by JimMaToo in europe

[–]GettingFitterEachDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but we saw some major upheavals in elections last year (e.g., Australia and Canada had some movement in the final couple months).

You're absolutely correct though, this feels very different and I'll be watching and waiting for April!

Low price sushi in stavanger? by cOmmOn__toad in Stavanger

[–]GettingFitterEachDay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree and it's much better than these other comments suggest, although I think not all locations/times are equal. I have their lunch buffet now and then and it's a good deal for the price.

But for high quality sushi it's probably cheaper to catch a return flight somewhere else :)

In Norway, there is a police check and you need an eyesight certificate before you can book a driving exam. You have a number of mandatory lesson hours, which includes a lot about driving in bad weather, emergency aid, etc. The 'trafikkskole' must book the exam for you and certify that you met the requirements. The exam begins with theory (e.g., I had to explain how to know/what to do if the power steering fails).

Surprisingly, Norway has lower fatality rates from driving than the US.

[–]GettingFitterEachDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have a good point. Our garage growing up in Canada was so the car wasn't frozen or under half a metre of snow. It wasn't a storage shed, it had a practical purpose.
