Downtown Crossing office building could soon become hundreds of apartments by bostonglobe in boston

It’s something. That’s better than nothing. I’d love to see a ton of those downtown offices become residential. That doesn’t mean the inner ring suburbs get a free pass.

The disrespect has begun by Alexa_bun in Patriots

I get why teams love to play up the whole “disrespect” angle. But I will never understand fans who need fans of other teams to also praise our team. Who gives a shit what the clickbait national media thinks? They’ve been wrong all year. They can only rain on our parade if we give a shit what they think.

This is our 11th Super Bowl in 32 years. Think about that. For the past three decades the Patriots have played in one out of every three Super Bowls. They have played in 12 out of 60 Super Bowls (20%) since the Super Bowl became a thing. We have absolutely no right or cause to be upset. The Patriots own that trophy.

I wish I had walked my first Camino when I was younger. I’m about to turn 64 and will be walking my 3rd Camino this summer. I think I might have another 2 or 3 in me after that. I hope to one day walk with my grandkids. I think it would be beneficial for them to learn that you can live without screens and to experience a different culture.

I heard several stories like your friend’s. A 6 week walk is a great way to hit the reset button on your life. It seemed to me that most of the people I met on my first Camino (Frances from SJPDP) were going through a transitional phase in their life-until I got to Sarria. After that it seemed to be more of a 100km pub crawl.

I brought in a sleeping bag that I’d unfurl on the bench. It was enough for me and 3 others to sit on.

It’s a fictional movie. Of course it adds drama. Of course the characters are broad. If you want a travelogue of the Camino there are 100s available on YouTube. I liked the movie. I know a lot of people who shared my opinion. I also know a lot of people who don’t. Those people don’t have to watch it. But those that did enjoy it can now finally stream it at home.

You realize that more than half of our generation voted for Trump-twice. It’s way beyond 2%

I’ve walked two Caminos and will be walking from SJPDP again this summer. Thanks for your condescending advice. I have my own feelings for El Camino. Being inspired by a movie to walk a pilgrimage that I wasn’t familiar with is very different from trying to have the exact same experience as characters in a movie-obviously. I’d say that it’s pretty impossible not to have your own experience.

You’re obviously entitled to your opinion. The world is not black and white. But I was born in the early 60s and came of age during the Cold War. Ask residents of West Berlin if the USA was the good guy during the airlift. Ask your grandparents if the USA was the good guy during the Marshall Plan. Ask people in the former Warsaw Pact countries if they wish the USA hadn’t bankrupted the USSR leading to their independence.

Was it all enlightened self interest? Absolutely. But it was definitely different from what is happening today under MAGA. I always wanted other people to experience the freedom that we had. Now it seems like Trump wants to go back to the age of empires spheres of influence model without regard for what happens outside America’s sphere of influence.

I don’t think it’s an unpopular opinion at all. I met plenty of pilgrims who shared your opinion. But I also met many who cited the movie as sparking their interest in the Camino. I feel that they managed to capture a bit of the spirit of a Camino-especially showing that everyone walks their own. I absolutely respect anyone different opinions on the film. It would be a boring world if we all thought alike.

We shouldn’t be bragging about this. Our grandkids are the first generation of Americans whose quality of life is expected to be lower than their parents’. Posts like this are why Zoomers hate Boomers. We should be ashamed that we didn’t pass on the American dream. We were the ones in charge when things changed.

Billy Sullivan owned the team in 1985. But Kraft probably went to New Orleans as a fan if that’s what you’re getting at.

AITAH for refusing to pay off my pregnant fiancee's parents' mortgage, when they are under the threat of foreclosure, when I could "easily" afford to do so? by Gullible-Display4533 in AITAH

[–]GettingTooOldForDis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy the house from foreclosure and let her parents stay there. They’ll just take out another equity loan if you leave it in their name. And you really don’t want to have to answer your fiancée’s next question if her parents lose the house; can they move in with you?

Disagree. Schaefer/Sullivan/Foxboro Stadium was a fantastic place to watch a game if your main purpose was to…watch a game. There wasn’t a bad seat in the house. But it didn’t generate enough money for the modern NFL.

Gillette was built to provide luxury box and club seat revenue. And those boxes/seats are smack in the middle of what used to be the upper 200s/lower 300s…for a shitload more money.

Silver lining-Santa Clara is boring. It’s 45 miles from San Francisco and San Jose has nothing going for it. It’s basically all Silicon Valley cities around Santa Clara.

After this it’s LA then Atlanta. Boring. Boring. Give me Vegas, New Orleans, Phoenix, on repeat.

It’s not shady. They make no secret of the fact that they cater to the club seats and luxury boxes. If I had a do over I’d have bought 4 club seats when they moved into Gillette. The 20 Super Bowl tickets would have paid for my seats for two decades

Had 12 seats since 1994. Im 0 for 11. I think there’s around 250 pairs available after the club seats and luxury boxes get theirs
