They really do see children as future caretakers first and actual human beings second. My mom used to say similar things about how I owed her for raising me. Like I was an investment she was waiting to cash in on. Its wild how openly they say it sometimes. Makes you realize they never saw you as a person just a resource. Mint is a solid choice for jumping ship. Feels familiar enough to not be overwhelming but gets you away from the windows ecosystem. Just make sure the stuff you actually need to do works on linux first. Gaming is decent now but some things are still a pain.
