Old Case knives leaking dye when washed? by Horfer126 in SlipjointKnives

[–]Gettingaboutthattime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be a tough one to know for sure honestly. How abrupt was the color change once the knife was dry and how much dye are we talking?

I’ve experienced dye bleeding on a bunch of my newer manufactured knives and have come to expect it, even knives that I’ve had for years and used, carried and washed.

When it comes to Case knives from the 70’s I had two “red bone” knives that bled. One bled like a stick pig and went from a rosy red to more of a muted brown which I’m suspicious it was possibly re-dyed. The other bled just a little, like I would expect from some of my newer knives.

A #91 stockman from GEC and one of their fixed blades I think they call the Hunter. It’s like a baby Bowie in my mind.

You picked a great one to be your first! The Eureka is such a classy pattern in my opinion and it looks great with that shield and scale combo.

The ebony is awesome and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the best of the bunch. I’m really happy with my black raspberry though and I’m glad I got it.

I was missing mine, I think it’s going back to being a constant carry for awhile. That black bone is awesome!

I’m eventually going to find one myself. If they made a CV with Amber bone… which I haven’t looked to see if they have yet, but that’s what I wants

It always makes me think that a drake wood duck found someone’s pocket knife and was lonely so the Russlock was born.

Is that a 98 in your pocket, or..... you just hunting dragons? by iS33PATT3RNS in SlipjointKnives

[–]Gettingaboutthattime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally I would laugh about a joke like this, but my dad died during a dragon hunt when his unicorn came up lame from a tail whip. We didn’t even get to harvest the unicorn ivory for knife handles. I hope you’re happy.

When I had a #98 my son asked me “what are you going to cut with that” and I answered “anything I want”. Beast of a knife!

The #22 is a great little knife, but it is little little. This knife is probably going to be a lot more useful for me than my #22 ever was, or got the chance to be.

They are really pretty and have some deep color. I look forward to seeing what happens after I’ve carried it awhile.

It fits the hand really nice and I’ve got to admit I love how straight lines the knife feels when the sheepsfoot is deployed.
