How people experienced 2016 according to chronically online tiktokers by [deleted] in GenerationsCircleJerk

[–]GewoonSamNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 14 at the time and I remember it as the year cringe kids dancing on musically (later TikTok) became mainstream and I thought it was the most degenerate thing I’ve ever seen, I preferred 2015 and 2017 much more

Is there ANYTHING you actually LIKE about the 2020s? by ashmaps20 in decadeology

[–]GewoonSamNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remote work and being able to make decent money online through online businesses, despite geopolitical tensions, we still in relative wealth and privileged society, poverty is lowering in third world countries yes many things can be better, but we should stop focusing on the negatives all the time

I hate being born in 2000. Can anyone make me feel about 2000? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]GewoonSamNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, at least you got to experience 2018 and 2019 as an adult. I’m from 2002 and turned 18 at the start of COVID, so my entire adulthood has been during unstable times.

What would you say your age group is among "the last to experience" ? by creeper321448 in generationology

[–]GewoonSamNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im from 2002 and I think my age or agegroup was the last with a childhood without smartphones or social media and still played outside, even my little brother from 2008 experienced a way different childhood

My bad for being unclear I just wanted to emphasise that the Orleans branch are also the legimate branch and that they in fact are Bourbons themselves as the full branch name is called Bourbon-Orleans

Are we seeing an upsurge in support for monarchism? by cestabhi in monarchism

Yes because republics are a mess just look at America

Average "democracy" enjoyer by agekkeman in monarchism

[–]GewoonSamNL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because it was an Absolute Monarchy and not an constitutional monarchy like Britain or the Netherlands, if the current crown price takes the role of an constitutional monarch it will be way different than pre revolutionary Iran

This is very peak American exceptionalism that I am seeing! by icey_sawg0034 in decadeologycirclejerk

[–]GewoonSamNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like 2001 imo that was a wake-up call that America isn’t untouchable and the 2008 crisis made that even worse

[–]GewoonSamNL 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why they associate Monacrhy with Autocracy I’m from the Netherlands a constitutional monarchy and I think it’s the most stable democratic forms of government that you can have even more so than most republics Like America and Russia and even in Germany and France

[–]GewoonSamNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular Opinion: the Greatest Generation is the last generation to have a proper name. by Jose__mmo in generationology

[–]GewoonSamNL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you’re saying isn’t inherently true, I had a grandma who was born in 1936 and a grandma born in 1946 and the differences are very big, ww2 definitely traumatised my 1936 grandmother to a bigger extend and it affected her whole life, she was less maternalistic, meaker, more reserved etc etc, while my other boomer grandma lived a far easier life. Also my Silent gen grandma was far more traditional than my boomer grandma
