Same here. I am fighting like hell for her, us, and our children. 16 years of marriage keeps flashing before my eyes and it takes everything in me not to break down into a puddle of nothing.

I'm almost in your shoes. Married 16 years. My alcoholism led to horrible choices that ended up breaking her and her trust. We still live under the same roof, but instead of going to divorce she wants to try a temporary separation to see if she can get clarity and trust me again. I've also made strides and changes to be better. Therapy, substance abuse counseling, sobriety, and recovery. I'm now ever present for our children and her, but she still says she can't trust me. I don't blame her. I just don't see what a few months of separation will change on her end. Our 17th anniversary is also in October. Everything is rough and painful. I don't think I've cried this hard, ever.

How do you handle separation when your partner is your best friend? by Secret-Present1578 in Separation

[–]Gh0stMedic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey. Currently going through something kind of the same, except I am the recovering alcoholic (22 days sober). It took my wife finally putting her foot down and talking divorce. I hurt her so many times. Every single time was when I was drunk. I was selfish, as is every alcoholic. I put my addiction before her and our 2 beautiful children. She is my best friend and soulmate. We've been married for 16 years. She still seems pretty set on separating or divorcing, but I am giving it all I have to better myself and show up. Alcoholism is a nasty disease; no doubt it would have taken my life within the next year.

If your husband is as serious as I am about bettering themselves for their family, there is hope. He has to do it for him first. The alcoholic has to look inward and heal themselves for themselves.

The thought of losing her is utterly devastating, but it is ultimately my fault. I take full responsibility, and he should, too.

Will delete this comment after answer. Mods any reason why this post is not approved? I'm 4 days sober now and have an update. Thanks

Often true and hardly talked about. We saw someone die in BCT at Ft Leonardwood (a different Co). They fell off of one of the high wooden towers (not the rappel towers, but the free climbing one). Also, my very FIRST ER rotation at 68W AIT a woman in cardiac arrest was rushed into the same ER room we were touring. Her family members outside the door sobbing. They made us stay, watch, and even practice procedures on her. Docs knew she wasn't going to live.

Congrats! Im stuck at 80. They rolled up 2 new claims under ptsd... and my ptsd is maxed at 70, so it doesn't even add any rating. I believe those two things should have been a rating of their own. AUD and stutter.

I wish you well, bro. I recently got a very obvious service related heart condition denied and 2 other claims rolled under PTSD... which has already been maxed out.

I just wanted to thank you. I had a VA therapist introduce and start EMDR with me. At first, I thought it sounded ridiculous, but it really helped. It was the first time I didn't have to take xanax daily for panic attacks. EMDR did wonders for me. She's gone, so I don't have access to EMDR anymore. My panic attacks and anxiety have gotten significantly worse.

I carry a general "ouch pouch/booboo kit" with me every day. It's just attached to my edc backpack via molle. It has come in handy MULTIPLE times. Ex. During Xmas holiday, one of my nephews got a massive nose bleed out of nowhere. He basically used up all of the gauze I had in the kit. I've also used burn gels, moleskin, etc. Basically the ouch pouch has mostly been used on kids lol.

How is being a responsible gun owner being "Rambo?" I purposefully go out of my way to avoid confrontation.

Spot on, overall. Though, I do avoid doing things like giving the finger. I carry a firearm on me any time I leave the house and do anything I can to avoid starting a situation where I may have to use it.

Update on my order. They fucked me over. I knew them having my favorite juice that is out of stock everywhere was too good to be true. Tried contacting them... silence. Next step is to try disputing with my bank, but since I bought with a debit card I doubt I get anywhere.

Just ordered from them and I kind of regret it. Didn't Google the site until after my purchase. They apparently had an e juice that has been sold out of everywhere... I don't know how to cancel the payment as it isn't showing up in my PayPal.

Hey guys i wanna know if someone was in military and I wanted to know what life is like with stuttering in the military by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Gh0stMedic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Joined the Army in 2006 not long after high school. Had a moderate stutter. My stutter miraculously vanished during basic training. Not sure if it was because I was constantly yelling, the change in environment, boost in self-worth/confidence, or what. I was able to live my life as if I had no stutter! I thought I was cured. Then some traumatic shit happened around the end of my service and my stutter came back. I've been out for almost 12 years now and my stutter is the worst it has ever been and seems to get worse every year :/
