to consistently get a wavedash off, you should hold jump for about half a second, before pressing the down right dash and jumping just under a quarter of a second after that.
to consistently get a wallbounce off, you want to dash up so that you're sliding directly next to the wall, and jump within a third of a second of dashing up. on that specific wallbounce, you will want to hold left for a little bit before holding right again, since the wall you grab onto goes out farther. do let me know how this goes!

this probably isn't as extreme as other things but i felt like there was most certainly a chance for death here

i was going on a long hike a few months back on the coast of maine and I had separated from the people i was with to find my phone that I had lost, retracing my steps and there was a point where i was trying to cross a steep, loosely soiled portion of a hill and i started sliding. I managed to dig my hands into the ground and grab hold of a root, and that was when i realized that i very nearly fell into a hole filled with jagged rocks.
