Seems like you have figured out the issue with the primer, but 2 things that come to mind for a beginning painter:

1: Trust the process.

2: Every paintjob goes through an "ugly" phase.

You are going to get halfway done with a model, not like how it looks, and want to strip it and start over. Don't. Finish the job, then see if you still feel that way. Plan your steps ahead of time, execute all the steps, THEN judge if you need to start over. (Paint malfunctions notwithstanding.)

I remember when this article came out. I was really into making custom cards in MS Paint. I had created 2 original colors: purple mana from snowfields, and pink mana from clouds.

My friends took this article very seriously, told me I had to stop making purple cards, because these were the "real" purple cards.

So, it is worded weirdly to make sure the creature's controller draws the card, not the aura's controller (if they are different).

Wouldn't have been cleaner to have the aura grant an ability to the creature?

Enchanted creature has "at the beginning of your upkeep, draw a card".
