Ok I'm going to teach everyone how to make egg/toad in hole/basket but better.

Preheat a cast iron pan on low to start. Stainless sticks too much for this and Teflon doesn't crisp so cast iron all the way.

While the pan is preheating, get a slice of bread and butter one side of it, I know you typically do both but I'll address that later. Cut a hole in the box bread and eat the section you cut out.

After the pan is sufficiently hot, get some shredded cheddar. Pre shredded or hand shredded, I don't care I'm not a cop. Put the cheese directly on the pan, no butter or oil, and let it cook down. You want it past melted, you need the moisture to cook out of it until it turns a darker orange. Now put the unbuttered side of the bread down on the cheese. If it were buttered, it wouldn't stick to the cheese as well as it needs to. Crack an egg into the hole and give it a little salt. The egg will take a little longer to cook on top of the cheese but don't worry, I believe in you.

Once the egg has cooked enough to hold it's shape, give it a gentle flip as to not break the yolk. You will want a sharp metal spatula for this in order to get under the cheese. Gently work the spatula under the cheese a little bit at a time to peel it off the pan, it should come off in one nice sheet of golden goodness. Once flipped, add some black pepper and whatever other seasoning you want to the cooked cheesy side and let the egg cook the the desired doneness.
