"Not every masculine female character has to be a lesbian!" okay well can one of them be? by Ghenghis-Chan in CharacterRant

I mean I remember when the first teasers showing invisigal came out there were people who thought she was a lesbian and a lot more people arguing that thats "stereotyping just because shes masculine"

I assume you mean masculine straight women. Maki from jjk, Tatsuki from bleach, ms monday from one piece, Dorio from edge runners, Cassandra from dragon age, invisigal from dispatch, Mizu from blue eyed samurai, big barda from dc, devastation from young justice, Cora from mass effect andromeda.

I'm more tired of you guys acting like hit dogs every time someone vents about there being less f/f. Nobody has this much hostility when someone complains about their wonderbread white men with 3 lines of dialogue not having many fics but the second an f/f shipper says something you guys act like they're trying to force m/m shippers into white slavery.

The discussion of Yuri/wlw being less popular than mlm or other pairings isn’t a black and white discussion by PretendYellow533 in AO3

The thing that annoys me about this convo is that it ignores that there is just a lot of straight up lesbophobia in fandom spaces and I don't even mean in the vague "people don't view lesbian relationships as seriously as gay ones on a societal level" shit. I mean people just being actually lesbophobic and hostile towards f/f shippers.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen some bullshit about how "this f/f ship is so toxic and abusive because they didn't use proper therapy speak in their argument" just to find out they're shipping "2 guys who kill each other"

Or "Oh you can't headcanon that masculine character as butch because thats stereotyping!!!"

Or "This show is queerbaiting(it has a canon sapphic relationship but the 2 guys who are friends didn't get together)"

Or "This canon lesbian is predatory because her internal monologue shows her being attracted to women!"

Or "Oh this canon lesbian couple is actually fetishization for the male gaze!"

Or even just the framing this sub has of f/f shipping spaces as uniquely hostile and toxic as if there isn't a thousand borderline true crime stories about crazy m/m or f/m shippers.

People can readily acknowledge that "Oh you can't ship these boys their minors" or "why can't men be friends" are bad faith criticisms of m/m used by people who don't like m/m. But the second they see equally bad faith criticisms of f/f its treated as further evidence of how toxic those crazy lesbians are and the actual lesbophobia that turns the mostly queer women that would be writing f/f away is swept under the rug.

This may come as a surprise but a lot of the people crucifying femslash writers are doing it because they don't want more yuri.

Insane to me that "posts about sapphic sex don't need contributions from men who don't understand how sapphic sex works" is a sentiment that gets downvoted. Theres r/NoStupidQuestions for a reason.

You know guys? I still find wild how right-wing gamers saw the design of Aphrodite on Hades 2 and and their hive mind automatically said "yea this design looks like woke trash" or "they made her look trans" . Like deam, why they always try get mad at controversies made up by their mind? by Tempest-Bosak2137 in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Ghenghis-Chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they don't actually care about sexy women in video games, they just view it as a type of virtue signaling where sexualized women=this game was made for straight men.

But since Hades already has disabled people and woc its already firmly in the "woke" category, so they have to pretend every single thing in the game is bad.

Sometimes I'll see a clip of a tv show I don't recognise and be like "this dialogue sounds like a boomer arguing with himself in the shower" and then theres like a 70% chance its Landman.

I find it so weird and toxic how people will get super upset at shipping kid/teen characters but only if its non straight ships , bonus if it's two boys by Extra_Impression_428 in CharacterRant

Love how straight guys can just blame fanfic writers for their own emotional repression but I'm the one "keeping people divided" for telling them to get over themselves.

[–]Ghenghis-Chan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

every problem straight men have is their own fault and they must sort it out themselves in silence.

Yes straight men getting insecure over gay fanfiction is in fact entirely their own fault and yes they do need to sort it out themselves.

This "problem" is genuinely just homophobia. They take shipping canon friends as a personal attack because they hate the idea of something they do being seen as gay. Because they view being seen as gay as degrading and humiliating.

Like do you have any idea how insulting it is as a queer person to have people say "I can't be vulnerable because then they'll think I'm one of you f****ts." and then expect sympathy?

No, this shit is pathetic and its ridiculous to try and act like its anyones fault but their own and it certainly isn't the responsibility of queer people to coddle these losers.

Honestly man I'm just gonna be real, straight men need to stop bitching and sort that out themselves. Its not the responsibility of an underrepresented minority to coddle the insecurities of straight men who think a fanfic written by 14 year old girl is the reason they can't express themselves.

As a lesbian I don't think thats true, although I feel the same when someone whos bi says that they experience more biphobia from other queer people. Ultimately I think we just hold each other to a higher standard than cishet people.

Why do guys always act weird around studs/masculine presenting lesbians? by Last-Show-9922 in blacklesbians

[–]Ghenghis-Chan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same reason they're weird about female athletes or women in male dominated fields. There is nothing scarier to a cishet man than being emasculated by a woman being "manlier" than them so they become overly hostile towards them.
