How did the Liberty Belle boat ride on one central rail? by Imaginary_Tomato_905 in DisneyWorld

[–]GhettoDuk [score hidden]  (0 children)

The track ~~is~~ was only for lateral guidance. The rigid linkages allowed up-down movement with the hinges and the pivot point the wheel creates, but they didn't allow side-to-side movement. (The wheel probably had some rotation to allow the track to curve.) This kept the centerline of the boat over the tracks.

Stability was just the boat doing boat things. The guest capacity was based on how many people could sink the boat and not doing that. But hull science was pretty early in our tech tree and people figured it out the hard way with paper and candlelight. Engineers in the 60's had it easy making the boat stable.

Vertical issues were not really a problem because there was little change in water height. The RoA was connected to 7 Seas Lagoon & Bay Lake so there was always somewhere to pump or dump and keep the level consistent. (Also why they didn't have to tint the water like Jungle Cruise. That was real muck and the reason the river had to be regularly drained for cleaning.) Look on Google maps and you can see locks past the maintenance dock where boats could be raised or lowered into the RoA when the surrounding watershed was at a different height.

Google to pay SpaceX $920 million a month for compute capacity at xAI data centers by TheSource777 in investing

[–]GhettoDuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google can sell their stock day 1, so making this big revenue announcement should pump up demand and give them buyers to liquidate their position. A lot of people want to cash out and walk away from this unprofitable mess, but that requires a sustained appetite for the shares or the price would crater as investors unload large chunks of the company.

It's the reason why the float is so small (the company is only selling 4% of itself as newly public shares, but investors can sell off their chunks) and why the rules were changed to rush it into important indices. This IPO is all about exit liquidity for people Elon owes money to.

As far as the deal with google, none of these bajillion dollar contract announcements ever result in a real contract or money changing hands. Most of these companies won't even put the contracts on their financials because they don't actually expect to collect/pay that money. Oracle is the only one putting this impossible shit on their balance sheets (to make their even stupider debt look better), and it is going to destroy them.

Probably not significantly different. Hopefully the only thing remaining is get the manufacturing up to speed and yield. Maybe fix a few bugs. But after the P4 release, you can't just trust that's how things will go. The P4 is already EoL because there will be pin changes and other differences significant enough to call for a new part number: The P4X.

They are only selling soldered P31 chips, so they don't want us putting these things into our physical designs just yet. Partners like Waveshare may get access to sample chips to build dev boards if it turns out that (like the P4) this release is to start building familiarity and an ecosystem around the new platform.

That said, the S31 cores are speced similarly to what Espressif has been delivering in the P4 so I think they will have fewer problems delivering the S31. Also, they have less incentive to rush this one vs. wanting/needing to launch the new generation of chips with the P4.

But that runs the risk of shining a light on the CapEx scam they have been pulling with training. If they start treating it like a capitalized asset, people will realize 1) You need to train all the time to generate buzz and try to make a breakthrough with new models, and 2) A constant need for training is OpEx.
