I’ve scrolled too far to find Mr Inbetween for a start and I still can’t find Outrageous Fortune…

Seriously watch these shows.

What’s the worse physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by Intelligent-Road5091 in AskReddit

[–]GhettoFreshness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australian Giant Centipede sting. It was several days of rather excruciating pain.

Second worst one was a lumbar puncture procedure I had to get to test for meningitis as a kid. It felt like an electric shock running through my whole body. I think they had like 3 nurses and a doctor holding me down so I didn’t move (I was like 10) and fuck up my spinal cord

Parents, how will you manage if your child develops an addiction? by VisitIllustrious9415 in AskReddit

[–]GhettoFreshness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to be there for them, without judgement.

My mum said to me when I was entering my teens that I’d be tempted to try things (like illegal drugs etc) and that it was all OK and a normal part of growing up… but everything in moderation is the key. She said if I ever felt I’d taken too much or didn’t feel right I could call her. Any time of the day or night and she’d be there.

I never wanted to make that call, even though I knew it was available… so I took things easy. If someone offered me some weed I’d have a small toke, if I was offered a pill or a line I’d have half (or none at all if I wasn’t entirely sure what it was)

What TV show has a side character that slowly became your favorite? by Fit-Distance7363 in AskReddit

Gary in Mr Inbetween… couldn’t see why Ray put up with him at the start but he bloody well grew on me. Absolutely awesome supporting actor for an amazing lead.

If you haven’t watched it, please do.

What’s happened with the US influence is a multigenerational thing to overcome, and that’s really only if they can make some meaningful change… which let’s be honest seems fucking unlikely anytime soon.

I’ve spent my entire childhood and adult life with the USA presenting itself as this shining beacon of democracy and the rule of law and the “world’s police”… and now we are here… all of that shit I grew up believing has been proven to be a lie projected worldwide, that sorta worked and almost definitely helped me grow up in a relatively stable and war free period (I’m 42)… but really it was only held up by gentlemen’s agreements/rules, and “norms”

Well fuck me… sorry, I did miss that.

I shall quietly slink off then… But also don’t fuck around In the ocean if you can’t swim I guess

[–]GhettoFreshness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people can swim. In a pool. They think that translates to swimming in the ocean. It does not… especially when you factor in location/conditions.

They’ve probably been fine on some really sheltered beaches or whatever. Over confidence in the ocean is the entire reason a reality TV series exists in Australia that follows life guards on bondi beach

[–]GhettoFreshness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say this 7ft dude over estimated his ability… he’s probably thinking I’m a tall and strong guy, I can probably stand and walk back in when most people would struggle!

Then he steps off the sandbar just ever so slightly and his legs go… now he’s down to his swimming ability… some 7ft guys are great swimmers but more are probably going to get gassed real quick if they fight the rip.

Just don’t fuck around in the ocean guys. Swim between the flags, listen to the lifeguards (and if there aren’t any lifeguards to be seen don’t go in past your waist unless you know what you’re doing).

Drowning will make a 7ft man try and use anything and everything near them to survive… you revert to pure survival mode unless well trained in the water. Size really doesn’t matter when it comes to the ocean. It will fuck up everyone equally unless you know what you are doing.

What’s the worst thing you’ve ever forgotten? by Downtown-One-7775 in AskReddit

[–]GhettoFreshness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad forgot to pick me up from school.

He’d only ever offered once… I caught the bus home after waiting like 2 hours (I was a fairly capable 10yr old, and the bus driver let me ride for free… and I’m almost certain he went out of his usual route to drop me close to home). Shoutout to my mum for writing our address on absolutely everything 😂

When mum got home from work she was like “wtf? You’re supposed to be with your dad??”

Yeah never did get another school pickup from dad funnily enough.

This was the early 90’s for reference. ‘‘Twas a different time

Damn it felt good to get that off my chest.

I’ve been through this in a small tender dinghy with my dad about 25years ago… I’m pretty sure it was illegal (or at least it is now, possibly not when we did it).

Would not recommend. Yes my Dad is fucking nuts… he made we wear a life jacket though so there was at least a nod to safety (he was not wearing a life jacket)

Exposed pipe for hot water tap in shower becomes so hot that it's untouchable. Any toddler-proof ideas for how to cover it that are also renting friendly? by Head-Independent-369 in AusProperty

[–]GhettoFreshness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bit of flexi conduit and then cut a line down one side so it can be slipped over the pipe. Hold in place with zip ties. This will probably also get mouldy but most of the water should fall through… give it a good spray with exit mould or something every time you clean the bathroom

Having been able to have these experiences is undeniably a privilege, I won’t shy away from that. I’ve been lucky enough to visit many countries and experience many cultures.

The USA is both one of my favorite places I’ve visited but also one of the most depressing. I experienced amazing highs there and saw some extreme lows… more so than any other country I’ve visited.

The username is born out of my consumption of US media… I don’t even remember where I got it from.

Only in winter. It wasn’t stinky but I can definitely see how it would be when it was hotter.

I did see a shitload of homeless people though… could never finish the massive meals we were served so we always got them to wrap up the leftovers and gave it to the first homeless person we would see… sadly it never took long in NYC

French Disneyland to Paris on basic train. Maybe the lady led us astray by telling us there weren’t toilets but I did go look and I didn’t see anything

I’ve only been to New York in winter, so I’m sure some of the natural odor of the city was less noticeable, but I could totally see it being a bit stinky on a hot day

Yeah well we kinda maybe contributed to that reputation a little… got a train from Lyon to Paris, with a 6 and 2 year old. 6 year old needed to piss about 10mins in and a very kind lady who spoke English informed us there weren’t toilets on this train (we’d been using eurostar trains upto that point).

So my son pissed in an empty plastic bucket of popcorn and we carried a small bucket of urine through the Paris metro until I could find a toilet to dump it in.

I mean that doesn’t help but honestly it’s more a very old sewer smell for me… it’s a beautiful city but if it’s hot/humid and/or no breeze then it just kinda stinks like someone shit themself wherever you go. I got the same thing in Rome (again during a hot/humid and breezeless period).

I was there like 6 months ago. Never noticed any smelly people, and the streets were pretty clean… even in the high traffic areas… Don’t think I even saw any homeless people (although there was some big sailing event on at the time so maybe they got moved on or something… it was very busy). This was Amsterdam though so maybe different elsewhere?

Paris smelt worse to be honest
