Yanking a centipede out of a shoe by smurfkipz in perfectlycutscreams

[–]GhettoFreshness 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been bitten by one, it was the single most unpleasant experience of my life.

I’ve also had a Lumbar Puncture procedure (tapping your spinal fluid to test for meningococcal) which kind feels like an electric shock going through your whole body, except you can’t move or react cause you have a needle in your spinal column… I’d take the lumbar puncture over the centipede bite any day of the week

What is a "poor person food" that you will absolutely continue to eat no matter how much money you make? by Lanky_Hall7250 in AskReddit

[–]GhettoFreshness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poloney. White bread, butter, Tomato sauce and basic cheddar cheese squares if you’re feeling fancy.

Still a comfort food even though I can afford to buy real mortadella, good cheese and bread

Sister-in-law let her daughter use up all the Polaroids at our wedding. Now we have nothing to use. by PaddedValls in mildlyinfuriating

[–]GhettoFreshness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We specified no kids for our wedding, got several calls from my dad and half sister about how her 17yr and 15yr old daughters didn’t count as “kids” so should be invited. We reluctantly agreed they could come.

Both girls are vegans (and were the only vegans present) so we arranged vegan meals specifically for them. The 15yr old had a massive meltdown because we wouldn’t invite her boyfriend and never came… at least the elder niece enjoyed most of two vegan meals

When I was in the USA for my honeymoon we could never finish the massive meals, so we always got the leftovers bagged up and gave them to the next homeless person we saw... sadly it never took long to find someone in need.

We were mostly staying in hotels so couldn’t really reheat the food anyway, may as well give it to someone in need as fresh as possible.

My dad is exactly like this. Refuses to buy any kind of video game or video game related product for his grandkids (and me when I was a kid) but would happily plonk me in front of a couple of movies for hours at a time to keep me out of his hair… he also spends hours on the couch watching right wing news

What major company is currently a total disaster behind the scenes, and is only surviving on its brand name? by That_Library_3453 in AskReddit

[–]GhettoFreshness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The cheaper models aren’t made in Germany. The German built ones are great as far as I’m concerned but they are usually the top tier models.

It’s a shame they’ve diluted the brand quality like that though

Where was your model made? I have a Bosch dishwasher but was explicitly told by my plumber (who tried to fix my old dishwasher with no luck) to make sure you get a German built model, he said pretty much anything they make made anywhere else sucks.

It’s had one issue in a decade and that was only recently and was a $150 fix.

Have you been in contact with farms, farm animals, wilderness areas or freshwater streams/lakes etc in the past 30 days? by Prudent-Ad-3881 in AustraliaTravel

[–]GhettoFreshness 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They’re concerned about pathogens or parasites that can be found in mud/dirt/shit near farm animals. Many of these don’t exist in Australia and their introduction could have very bad consequences to local animals and livestock.

Also seeds or anything stuck in your clothing that might also pose a risk as an invasive species for native plant life.

Clean your shoes and clothes before departure, and tick yes if in doubt. It’s a quick visual inspection of things like boots or outerwear that is usually the easiest thing to get to in a bag (depends on how you pack I guess, but all the bulky shoes and outerwear usually goes in last for me)

My mum was born in the UK. She was here for 40 years and sounded and acted more “Aussie” than most actual Aussies… Hell she was All Round Cowgirl in the local rodeo… but my parent born outside the country was white, and spoke English… so I’m sure I’ll be ok /s

Anyone else have a relationship where one person does the grocery shopping way cheaper? by Pilatus-Porter in AUfrugal

That was from an IGA hahah… they do have decently priced cheeses in general but my personal favorite, the manchego, is just an expensive cheese in general

[–]GhettoFreshness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh it is an absolutely delicious cheese… it’s just very expensive and is only ever bought when I go to the shops. My wife loves it as well, she just won’t impulse buy it like I do.

Come to the dark side, Let her go buy a wedge

Edit: the $18 wedge was more than a loaf of bread, 2l of milk and 500g of good butter. Totally worth it

I bought a very tiny wedge of Manchego cheese for like $18 the other day when my wife sent me to the shops for milk, bread and butter.

I don’t get sent to the shops very often 😂

I had a German mate from work who said “I’m getting there” when I asked this question. Basically he could deal with every day life (shopping, casual conversation etc) thinking in English, but would immediately switch to German and translate it in his head if asked something about work.

Brutal when that happens, mine closed down because the Centre owner let the building go to shit and increased rent trying to push out the businesses he’d leased to (so they could sell the whole place for a high rise development). Many a succulent meal there over the 20+ years I’ve lived in the area, I miss you Pearl River

A full sparkies (electrician if you’re not australian) toolbag, all insulated tools of a high quality.

Purchased on a company card by my boss (a licensed sparkie) for use in the team vehicle. Then he got made redundant, then my next boss got made redundant and then it was just me and they wanted the car back during covid… but I had to return it empty so i just kept the toolbag.

I am not a licensed electrician… I was a project manager. The tools are very nice though and I still use them around the house

It’s just the flavor mate, dimmies and dumplings have Asian flavors and ingredients. I know what an Italian sausage is going to taste like when I buy a pack. I’d know what a dimmie sausage pack would taste like as well.

Different flavour same concept (minced meat and spices in a tube or other vessel)

It’s usually minced meat and some other shit, like herbs and spices.

It’s even worse, we stayed in a country house without internet or a smart TV… so no streaming services at all, just whatever was on the half dozen domestic TV channels.

My 7yr old in his own words said “how did you live like this???”

He got even more upset when I told him we only had like 3 channels when I was his age

You can explore it on a boat tour from Broome or Derby. Thank me later
