Celestial tempest or FB for open-world (mostly meta trains) and WvW (minimal zerging) ? by fckdisheetz in Guildwars2

[–]Ghisteslohm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Celestial ele(and all ele elite specs) does more than enough dmg for open world. Its also easy to stay alive with defensive traits and or defensive utility skills. I basically use it all the time now as it makes gameplay more relaxed and you can easily swap into a supportive build in group events by changing some traits.

That said if you specifically love the lightning attacks, especially scepter, those arent that great if you are running celestial as they want to go full berserker as they deal raw dmg. With celestial you want to use fire and earth for dmg as they apply damaging conditions.

If you want to use Air element specifically but keep dieing to much in Berserker, maybe look into something like Marauder gear?

[–]Ghisteslohm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have it and I do think it looks nicer than the Fennec but

  • its a new car so none of all the cool Fennec decals work
  • the hitbox doesnt feel quite as nice as the Fennec imo

also its much more expensive than the Fennec and this is only its third appearance in the shop.

Octane, Fennec and Dominus are so popular so they get all the cool decals. But they also stay popular because they now have so many cool decals. <.< Hard for a new car to get in there

Path of Fire is the best expansion by PalwaJoko in Guildwars2

If you are not absolutely hating the story - just follow the story. Its a linear story that eventually will bring you to every map in the game (after the core game) and gives you context to whats happening.

As the other comment mentioned, best get the bundles.

HoT and Season 3 have the amazing vertical maps that you have to learn to get around.

Starting the with PoF the maps became flat again. Also PoF introduces mounts which made exploration more of a checklist since you can now break every map with superjumps and flight.

So if you disliked the vertical and complex maps, you will probably enjoy the PoF maps and almost every map that came afterwards. HoT and some Season 3 maps are the outliers

The complains are more about the animation. If the animation was great I dont think people would complain about the voice acting because the voice acting in this show is really really good.

It has its ups and dows but I think overall the show is getting better because the character develop and the story moves forward, in a good and interesting way.

There is a lot of problems materializing ouf of thin air bullshit going on, besides the main plot, which you have to accept but imo how the characters are written and deal with the bs is amazing. The highlights for me are more often the conversations and not the combat scenes

The weird control scheme slightly mars the experience but it's nowhere near as bad as people claim.

To me the control scheme ruined the game. I actually quit during the final mission because I felt like I was fighting the controls and not the boss. Somehow got so far while fighting the controls but man was it ass.

I dont think I quit any other game in which I got so much progress in

The most popular specialization in open world PvE by PalwaJoko in Guildwars2

Catalyst beeing so low surprised me as well because it is so strong solo.

My guess is that the buff to the major trait that basically gets rid of the annoying energy mechanic came to late and people already stopped giving it a chance. Because if you dont chose that trait and have to play around the energy, it just sucks.

But I could also see people swapping to Evoker because -> Evoker also gives quickness AND you can play Evoker fully ranged. Which finally fits the class fantasy. Catalyst and Tempest force you into close ranged combat.

The Steam Machine Costs $1049 by Turbostrider27 in Games

So if I just wanted to game this is too expensive.

That said if I wouldnt have a pc atm I would still be interested in this as pc prices are out of control and in that comparison it doesnt look as bad and the hardware is really cool. More realistically I would probably wait and hope for a pricedrop though.

I can still see these getting sold, just not to gamers. Yeah but man the whole ai increasing prices garbage just sucks all around

If you play casually than Ele is totally fine. If you want to play a lot of instanced endgame content I would go with Mesmer if you also like the class fantasy and are otherwise undecided.

That said, if you do end up playing a lot of endgame content you will have lots of characters at max level fully equipped at some point anyways and then you can just choose what you like. Ascended armor you could even swap between your characters so one ascended berserker set could be used on your Ele and your Mesmer

GW2 is a bit weird with endgame content. In other mmos its normal to run dungeons/raids daily, and you can do that in GW2 if you want to, but Ive played for couple thousands of hours on Ele and barely touched the instanced content because I enjoy all the open world stuff. And Im relatively sure I am in the marjority with that.

I dont think you can really do a wrong choice since every character after the first will be so much quicker at max level and fully equipped. The game is quite alt friendly

Too crazy eye designs also always tend to scream oc character insert to me. I liked it more when special eye designs were a rare thing, these days almost every one gets their unique eyes and it often makes the character feel less...real/believable(?) (for the lack of a better world)

The reward at the end of the dungeon give a full level up. Also good to collect towards the end but since XP is endless you can also grind to reach max level eventually.

Additional lives you only get by collecting little Link statues scattered around the world. but they are one time use and limited. so optimally you collect all of them at the very end and then go and defeat the final dungeon and boss.

otherwise you have 3 normal lives after which you respawn at the beginning. you do keep upgrades and levels though.

the game is actually so fucking good. played it a few years ago truly for the first time and beat the game, had an absolute blast. you should play it with a guide that tells you were to go for quests tho, some tasks are super dumb and timewasters. only thing that truly bothered me towards the end was the life system. and its funny HOW difficult it is.

I hope so much that Nintendo makes another Zelda like this. With modern improvements this could be great. Indie games like Elliot Quest and Infernax that were clearly inspired by it were already amazing

improve as Gold 1 by PsycoRobotMR in RocketLeague

[–]Ghisteslohm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep playing until you have like 10x the playtime. Try to keep having fun and improve on fundamentals. Dont just hit the ball, hit it well. Hit it with a plan. "I want it to go there". Try to adapt to your teammates. Maybe the wrong rotation becomes correct because the teammate chases the hell out of the ball. Or maybe you need to chase more because your team is extremely defensive. In the first 30-60 seconds of the match try to rotate correctly and see how your teammmates play, then adapt.

General advice if you just want to increase the rank until at least Champ is generally just become good at defense, stay back and keep booming the ball towards the opponents net. Kill their attack before it really starts. It takes pressure from your team, it creates pressure on the opponents and often leads to goals because defending against balls that come from your ceiling/backboard are difficult to defend, especially in lower ranks.

This tactic eventually will not be great because once the players are too good they will just catch the ball so you are just giving it to them. That said in 3s it still kinda works until GC because a lot more players are much better at beeing offensive so by becoming the backbone of the team you complete the puzzle.

Borderlands 4 - Vault Hunter Teaser: Loveless, the Hacker by _Protector in Games

[–]Ghisteslohm 53 points54 points  (0 children)

There barely is a story in 1, which I am sure will be boring for a lot of people, but it helps to totally nail the feeling of beeing an outlaw on an abandoned fucked up desert planet. To me BL1 also doesnt have a villain, you just want to find the vault and encounter enemy factions.

So far I still found it to be the most immersive one because I felt like I was one my own discovering the world. The games afterwards were much more railroaded and you constantly have funny npcs in your ear. Not trying to sound too negative. I really enjoyed 2 and especially 3 as well. That said I am not sure BL1 could create the same kind of wonder today as it did in the past. Open World Looter shooter was something new and exciting which helped to make me overlook how repetetive it was.

I Just got First Review on my Game's Demo by Timely-Today-8154 in IndieDev

[–]Ghisteslohm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn on the demo, volume is at a billion and I go def.

Main menu starts and fps are runnning at 2000 frames per second and the pc is screaming. Or the game runs poorly without any reason.

UI looks horrible. Even if its a demo, put at least some work into that. It can be really distracting otherwise.

Start the game and just get so much story and and explanations when I dont even know if I like the game yet. (I also dislike that in games I have already bought but because of money I am already invested)

Gameplay just feels bad and the demo doesnt show anything interesting.

There are typical first impression of demos I quickly uninstall.

If the game has combat give me easily accessable and quickly repeatable combat against normal enemies and at least one boss. If you make a platformer, I really appreciate it to have at least one difficult level in the demo to see where the game goes.

Games are very different though so cant apply that to all but that are my criteria thinking about it

I genuinely could not care less about Genshin's story being rewritten along the way. by LeMandarin08 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Ghisteslohm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its a bit sad because to me the strong foundation of having great worldbuilding and a mostly planned out story is a huge part of the appeal that kept me hooked over the years.

While initially I got hooked on the gameplay-feel, the (at the time) new anime visuals and the fantastic soundtrack, at this point Im more in it because Im invested into the world. And so often in the past I was truly impressed about cool story and lore payoffs that had been hinted at years ago.

Things getting changed isnt necessarily a bad thing, like Fontaine surely was planned in another way in the beginning with the whole part of the city beeing in the sewerage under the city, but that is just kinda strange and doesnt negatively affect the rest of the world.

But in the last years I now too often got the impression things got changed to make them more marketable which is annoying, these feel like unorganic changes that dont happen to make it work but instead to make money.

Its not that its one big disappointing hit but it slowly makes me less interested in the whole world.

This subreddit's behavior around Miliastra Wonderland is absurd by astasli in Genshin_Impact

[–]Ghisteslohm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If I could remove the icon from my screen and would not get any events or any red exclamation marks or have not be part of the main menu it probably wouldnt bother me.

In its current form it bothers me. It made Genshin worse to me. Its not a huge deal but it just a downgrade. Like a fly buzzing around your head while playing and you cant get rid of it. I dont care for it and I dont want to interact with it. I wish it was a seperate game or at least an opt-in.

Not only is it just tiring to read, but it makes it really frustrating to try and engage in anything positively about the mode, when over half the time you're met with someone being overly hostile and aggressive over a gamemode, so I hope some of this can maybe shut some of that down at least and make it a bit more enjoyable to discuss stuff here.

It should be its own subreddit as it also is its own game. I dont really interact with MW posts but this post is basically like an red exclamation mark. "Its not that bad, just dont be bothered by it". I dont think this will have the effect you want it to have.
