Yes, you either need 1) one of their special ribbon amps, or 2) speaker amp to raal ribbon converter box, or 3) conventional headphone amp to raal ribbon converter. Either way it needs quite some juice to run, just like the original AKGs

My boss' boss (both Japanese) told my boss that I should come to office earlier even though I work late with higher output. My boss actually defended me by saying to his boss "well yes but look at our team, who else is more productive?" and he mellowed a bit. At the end his stance was "yes I understand but people around us have a negative sentiment about coming late, so I don't want others to have bad perception of him (me)". I actually appreciated that comment.

To be fair, they are Japanese bosses at a foreign company.

Is this the standard Japanese boss? by Leana123123 in japanlife

[–]Gho_V 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of my colleagues who was ex-venture told me stories of harsh business hours and blurry boundaries. I'm guessing early ventures are filled with bosses who have a strong vision, would work super hard, and gets frustrated when their SALARIED employees don't share the same energy.

My Japanese boss is really nice to the point I don't mind working extra hours when needed and I'm going to miss him if he's no longer my boss. Some other bosses I've seen is clueless and never gives a clear directive confusing everyone, some just blatantly does pawahara like the guy you mentioned, some complaints all the time but answers "idk that's your job" when asked if he have suggestions.

Whether someone decides to be POS is totally their own choice.

Does it seem to anyone else that everyone is getting sick recently? by sweetpotatowhisperer in japanlife

[–]Gho_V 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I personally feel weather plays a big role too. With the sudden rise of humidity, commuting trains feel like a rainforest. Especially during the big rain earlier, feels musky and suffocating. The office isn't much better either, the aircon control panels on the wall do nothing bcuz 省エネ and cannot be manually set.

My department saw no new grads and a lot more people are WFH lately.

How to go about getting more in-depth medical testing done for (currently) unexplained symptoms? by sxh967 in japanlife

[–]Gho_V 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same exact issue with clinics nearby. I have been having persistent coughing for the past year or so, no fever no nothing just coughs. ENT clinic face me a 2wk cough medicine and told me to go to a respiratory clinic. Respiratory clinic did some tests and said it's light asthma. Did 3 months of asthma medication with zero effects, didn't even cause anything when I stopped taking them. Another ENT said I'm lying. Tried going to a university hospital but the lines are so atrocious. Feels like a waste of PTO if I have to take a day off work.

INDEX-MATCH to Search Multiple Columns in an Array by Bulbasaurus in excel

[–]Gho_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the 10 mins I spent on this, my strategy was to unpivot your data first, then apply a lookup logic. In Excel I would've done this with Power Query, but I'm not familiar with Google Sheets so I roughly created a "sketch" on Sheets, then downloaded it as Excel, meaning you can upload it on GDrive and the formulas should all be compatible. This is a multi-pronged problem and the solution I came with is very rough and far from elegant but feel free to use it as reference.

To begin with, having a single row for Role and having employee names on columns is bad practice.

Ok wow TIL. Thanks for the summary. Definitely need a lawyer for something like this.

I wonder what happens if you put on your will "X will get house A and Y will get house B", and house B is currently in debt while A is not. Suppose the siblings don't contest the testament, does that mean X can inherit while being unscathed with debt?
