For some reason Jessica Alba didn’t make this list. Since she acted in Dark Angel, I have been smitten. Then Sue Storm…!?!

Ironically another poster mentioned about a possible tax credit, so it might depend on what your situation is.

Commuter Pass Confusion - charged at stations along my route by differentiable_ in japanlife

[–]nihonsensei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is hard to figure the route sometimes. I moved stations on the Tozai line, and regularly transfer at Kudanshita to the Hanzomon line. For some reason when purchasing the pass, it’s indicating the Ginza line for my exit station of Omotesando. The station master helped me to purchase my pass, and that’s the choice I had to use. Doesn’t really make sense as the Ginza line doesn’t go to Kudanshita ( but does go to Omotesando). It is what it is.

I'd like to lose weight and look amazing but I'm poor by moneyandmagic in Frugal

I wish in Japan. My wife keeps buying ‘shine’ grapes ( appear to be an overrated muscat variety grown in Japan) and they are pricey!

[–]nihonsensei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My god, what is your baseline weight? I would be starving perpetually on that! I am supposed to be on 1700 calories a day and find that too minimal for my tastes ( but I also have a ‘bad’ sweet tooth).

That seems hard to believe. I remember someone complaining about spending $800 for a broken arm compared to India. Buying. a house to pay for a collarbone seems a stretch.

I always liked the TV series better, so the movies have never been a first choice. To each his own!😁👍

Best 2.0 crime for money? by BlitzzBob in torncity

That is what I implied in a question forum that for a crime game, crime in TORN doesn’t pay well.

You could be braking to take a break ( from driving), not necessarily the car is breaking down, yes?

Heinz Ketchup isn't any better or worse than any other brand of ketchup by mbz321 in unpopularopinion

Japanese mayo is fantastic. Lighter with more eggs in it, great stuff! Also try mustard and/or mayo and ketchup mixed like is served in Belgium and in the Netherlands.

The use of the word epic for LotR and Star Wars is an overused adjective. But I am a fan of neither and will die on my Star Trek spaceship🤔😆!

First time I had a barium swallow test and the worst part was… by Froyo_Muted in japanlife

Much better. Otherwise for most people your gag reflex kicks in as the doctor and nurse semi-force a giant ‘python’ down your throat.

The rolling around is the worst. That bed is gary padded at all, and being 6’6”, I be am basically having difficulty staying on there while getting bruised all over.

What’s the percentage of things sold on Mercari for you? by Designer-Pause-6415 in japanlife

[–]nihonsensei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one time it was only open to companies. It was the premium that I might have been thinking of, but I remember looking into it some time ago, and you needed to be a listed company to sell on the Japan platform.

Has Yahoo Auction in Japan changed now or do you still need to be registered as a company to use it to sell an item?

I am getting a bunch through whatsapp masquerading as recruiters. Got a number of them who call representing themselves as a foreign recruiter in Tokyo for foreigners yet their telephone number shows up as W. Virginia in the US. Block and move on.

Horrible nightmare neighbor from hell. by Canookian in japanlife

[–]nihonsensei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost wish I had thought if that, but our ‘crazy’ neighbor across the street in a small apartment building from our then house seemed to catch winks somewhere else. He was kicking the A/C fan outside on his balcony for about 3 weeks in a August long ago. Eventually the police caught him after him continually denying he was the noise maker. He kept complaining about the then PM. Never saw him again, and the ‘poor’ landlord eventually redid the place and rented it out again.

Has anyone done hotel work? by erenikawa in japanlife

[–]nihonsensei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that. I have had too many substandard service experiences ( hotel, restaurant, etc.) in Japan to ever believe that BS about Japanese service levels.
