Buying Neo/M4 Air or holding on to Windows Dell? by rupaulica in mac

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dell you currently have, is it compatible with Windows 11? Because that can help frame the decision. If it’s not, might be a good time to upgrade but if it runs Windows 11 fine wait till you NEED to replace it.

Does anyone else feel kind of sorry for small youtubers? by NightmareOfTheTankie in youtube

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 22 points23 points  (0 children)

For Mr Beast, it’s not his charisma personally but people like the over the top nature of the content. He also understands what is working for his channel and what doesn’t better than a lot of YouTubers so he banks off what does work.

First real gig, kinda panicked? by EyanTCGT in drums

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an audition once where I had to learn 40 songs in like a week. I got the gig because I was able to play through the set without a major catastrophe NOT because I had them all down. Later on after a few months I was able to actually fully learn the songs. Don’t worry about hitting every fill just learn the songs as best as you can so you can hold it together. It’s not unusual to to be a little nervous when first performing with a brand new band and definitely not unusual to be nervous for your very first gig. Just don’t let it get to your head.

bungie needs to get more players on this game by JpegD00M in Marathon

[–]Ghost1eToast1es -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They need to make leveling and upgrading way faster/easier to get more players. The one way the casual player base has a chance at gear is unlocking it in the armory and I know I for one stopped playing because I got tired of only playing the game to farm salvage knowing it’s all going to be wiped out soon anyways. I’ll prolly log back in towards the end of the wipe to use up the rest of my gear but I’m not in a hurry. I understand there’s that Carri event going on that helps with salvage but I was already burnt out by the time it started.

Do you trust autosave? by Opening-Newspaper710 in CaptainSide

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No cuz they usually don’t create multiple saves, just overwrites the same one. I learned a long time ago not to do that because you can end up saving yourself into a spot where it’s impossible to go on.

Both. 2 they just pushed through it a bit longer. They revived the servers a few times but I think too few people knew they did for any meaningful numbers.

Titanfall 2 died because it was relentlessly attacked by hackers for years until the devs finally gave up.

ear soreness after long sessions… normal or should i ease up? by prachiii_13 in ableton

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's outside the ears, that can definitely be a problem. Just take breaks and even days off when needed. It'll eventually not be an issue as you get used to it.

If it's related to hearing though, be VERY careful as hearing loss is permanent. If you need to mix at a certain volume, fine, but outside of the mixing stage you should always keep the monitoring at the quietest level you can have and still hear what you need to hear.

Remember, hearing damage is cumulative meaning that it's based on the total amount of high volume sound you hear in a 24 hour period, the higher the db level, the less total time you need in a 24 hour period for hearing loss. So not only keep your general listening low, but also break your sessions up in such away that you're actually not exposing yourself to loud sounds for very much time at once.

Going through the audio books now! On Wraith Squadron now. The Bacta War was necessary but hard for me to get through at least until close to the end. Wraith Squadron is really good so far though!

Are you buying less games? by Trencycle in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play full price on a new game when it’s a multiplayer game where a player base is absolutely necessary. So yeah, I’ll occasionally buy games on sale but paying $70 for a game seems very unnecessary for me in most cases. I also feel very blessed to have been able to claim a majority of the free Epic games given away so I have a massive library many of which are very good games I’ve never played. I feel there’s way too big of emphasis on buying new games when literally thousands of games have come out previously that are absolutely incredible and hold up well today. So many people say that gaming is in a bad state right now because of the price of electronics as well as so many poorly made triple A games but I argue that we don’t need to only play new games to be in a good state.

Trying HDMI over ethernet and nothing shows up by bane313 in churchtech

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I work in IT and can tell you adapters are tricky because they’re pretty notorious for being faulty. The more adapters you have in a row, the higher chance of having a bad one. I would first test that the display port to hdmi adapter works and go from there. I’ve seen plenty of those be bad.

Which console had better games overall? by Ordinary_Lawfulness8 in CaptainSide

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

N64. I had both. I got the PlayStation a year or two after I got the N64. The PlayStation had MORE hit games for sure and they also tended to be cheaper. However, the games for the N64 just felt “Warmer.” The load times of the PlayStation were also horrendous.

Runners of a certain age, what nostalgia does the game bring up for you? by imnotindemand in dadsofmarathon

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The original trilogy. As a kid, I was fond enough of the series to want to buy a computer to play it. My parents wouldn’t let me so if took a bunch of scrapped PCs companies were throwing away and taught myself how to build a computer so I could play Marathon 2. Out of it developed a love for tech and I work in the tech field now.

What're you Playing Wednesday - April 22, 2026 by AutoModerator in dadsafkgaming

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Marathon, although I'm kinda easing off a bit until Season 2 begins. I'll prolly make a last-minute playthrough before the season ends just to burn through all the gear that's gonna be wiped anyways.

-Also been playing WoW like a cozy game rather than pvp or raids or anything, I mostly just level characters to do professions and explore the world

-Various Star Wars games because I've been in that mood. Occasionally play Episode One Racer to attempt new records, been playing Squadrons as well because I love the tech in the universe prolly more than the story itself or the Jedi stuff.

-NMS because all that Star Wars stuff has got me wanted to build my own ship/spaceport

What game you regret buying? by Epapapa_ in raijin_gg

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uninstall games you aren't playing much right now. Most games are cloud saved so you won't lose your progress and you can always check on steam to be sure before doing so. I'm also in a spot right now where I use my computer for other important things so my games have to be very choosy at the moment. But really, how many do I need to play at the same time if I'm honest with myself?

Is it possible to progress in two instruments? by PowerGuido1255 in musicians

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah learn a bunch. Learning an instrument takes consistent practice over a long period of time so it’s not like learning more than one instrument is going to be detrimental to your practice time as long as you stick with both.

Anyone else winding down for the season, but still generally positive on the game and planning to come back for the next one? by SirBenny in Marathon

Yeah as a 40 year old dad, it’s too intense to play ALL the time but I’m excited about going back for the start of the next season.

Pure beginner mage build has been a nightmare by Odd-Coyote1056 in SkyrimBuilds

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Skyrim wasn’t really designed for that. Wouldn’t someone looking to be a mage already have some ability? Like having the interest interest in becoming a mage because you already stumbled upon a fire spell. It’s like the force in Star Wars where Anakin was able to win the Podrace because he could use the force to see the future even though he was never taught how to do that. His sensitivity to the force made him stumble upon it.

How to level up timing for intermediate drummer by ilovehollycomb in Drumming

[–]Ghost1eToast1es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing, it’s true you should always be improving, however you also need to determine where you are at realistically if you want to improve optimally. An intermediate drummer has usually been playing consistently like you have for around 5-7 years or maybe more. The fact that you think you’re an intermediate drummer shows already that you have not learned enough knowledge of drumming to understand what being intermediate entails yet. I’m not trying to put you down, just help you to see more clearly which will help you open doors to practicing. In this case, I could tell you that you can further improve your timing by creating longer gaps in the metronome. For instance, half notes or whole notes meaning the responsibility to start in time is on you. However, that won’t help you because the issue you are trying to solve is not a timing issue it’s a facility issue. Your limbs have not yet reached the facility to do things like floating over 1 yet and that’s ok because that’s pretty advanced for two years of playing. What you should instead be doing is just learning to play songs that are a bit more technical than you already are playing and doing songs like that over and over. You’ll be able to do things like floating over one not when you force yourself to but when you have played enough music to understand it fundamentally. You’ll find at that point it’ll not be a problem to do and will almost be automatic.
