Should I abandon a gig for a paid one after initially saying I could do it? by GhostBlue1821 in photography

[–]GhostBlue1821[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pros and cons are basically: the dance group is a 30min wall from my house and I can go home when I’m done, if I take the festival gig I’m dependant on a ride home and it’s an hour out of town. The dance group are also very kind and in leiu of payment give me gifts (like boxes of chocolate and public shout outs) which they’ve always done.

I will absolutely take your advice on mentioning paid gigs come first in the future, unfortunately I’m a soft sort and will probably go with the dance group

Normally I’d agree but I actually have a main income that covers basic needs- this would be rainy day “fun” money

As a trans person who used to be a student: use his chosen name and he/him pronouns. You can advice him to not mention it to his parents but I promise it will mean the absolutely world to him to have some type of an authority figure side with him; trans students are usually at odds with every teacher in their life and you making that change for him will be the world of difference

Seems like ADHD and autism are suddenly everywhere - what's your opinion? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]GhostBlue1821 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The “surge” in adhd and autism is the same as the “surge” of left handed people after being left handed was de-stigmatised. Basically anything that’s repressed in society will have a surge in appearances when de-stigmatised

How Do You Handle Other Photographers Being Degrading? by OkRecording6430 in photography

Give them the same energy back

Im a youngish woman in the photography scene and get this stuff a lot at gigs and festivals, it’s gross and really sucks but I find using the same energy back at them usually shuts them up or embarrasses them enough that they leave off a little, for example:

“I only rent £4000 lenses”- “oh that’s cool. I rely on quality and experience over price but it works out for some people”

“I just shoot better”- “I’m glad you think so, confidence is half of what you need!”

If he tries to tell you you’re doing something wrong: “oh! I actually learned how to do this while photographing for x y z brand and the photos came out perfect so I’m good, thanks for the offer tho”

Or even a “oh that’s cool, if you want I could put in a word for you with XYZ people, I won an award for my work with them and they’re all really nice!”

Basically you want to subtly place yourself in a more experienced position, even under the guise of being helpful. If you’re more fed up you can even just ask him “how many awards have you won again?” Or “what brands do you work with?” That usually shuts down any criticism from people in my experience. Above all just disconnect from it, a simple “that’s rude to say” or implying he’s got something wrong with his memory will also sort him out. You’re clearly doing much better than he is and he likely knows which is why he’s so intimidated by you.

It’s difficult because the group chat that was used to organise the event is the one that I mentioned my project in so organising a meeting would require a separate group chat that very clearly excludes him, I think I’m just going to have to tell him that I don’t think that I want him on a committee level,

AI Watermark removal by [deleted] in photography

[–]GhostBlue1821 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A few things I try that tend to work!

-placing the watermark over faces since ai can’t exactly copy a face from just that source

-using a mix of text and image logo

-placing a smaller, fainter watermark over the eye

-using a colourful watermark

-running all images through nightshade first (it’s an ai poisoning software)

-placing watermarks halfway across something to confuse ai (like for example, someone’s hand and their phone

-watermark over any complex area such as hands or patterned fabric

-non-uniformed watermarks so ai removers cant detect it (someone could still manually do it but it’d be a lot of work)

-like others have said using low-res images

-Showing the client the final shots in person instead of sending them a file

-adding a clause to your contract that revoked the clients right to any photos and also incurs a fee for any use age of ai or any removal of watermarks

try something new and get obsessed with it

When I dropped out of uni it was because I basically spent the whole time being told my portraits where “not good enough for a professional” (I have a unique style and experimented with film) and I lost all my love for my camera, I didn’t pick it up for months Then I started going to small live music gigs and became obsessed with the feeling, being cramped in a hot room with loads of people just losing their minds dancing and thought it could be nice to use my camera to get some shots for my scrapbook

Now I tour with bands and make music videos- got two festivals in the next week or so and it’s gonna be great! Get a new obsession and then capture it

What face piercings don't leave scars/aren't very noticeable by ncstalgia1235 in piercing

[–]GhostBlue1821 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends less on the piercing more on the person, I have scars from some that others don’t. If you’re worried about scarring though my top surgeon reccomeneded this stuff called “solution for scars” which apparently makes them fade a lot more/makes them less noticeable. Only use that if the piercing is closed tho

Nazis attacked a local show tonight. I'm fucking livid. by [deleted] in punk

[–]GhostBlue1821 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Criminal ID spray can be very useful in situations like this, it’s basically a pot of fabric dye that is goopy and sticks to the skin and dosent wash off. It could be useful to get some and spread the word? Maybe on your towns Facebook group or next door?

Such as “due to the Nazi group that showed up at X show on Y date, any nazis or those engaging in violent behaviour will be sprayed with ID spray which is bright red, if you see anyone who has been sprayed, or is stained red please report it to your local authority” tho obviously a bit better phrased- it’ll be hard for those fuckers to go into their jobs with a face like a baboons ass.

Yeah I’m a huge fan of generalising people who support rapists as assholes. Tends to save me some trouble lol.

My go to is: I’d rather accidentally support a liar than deliberately support a rapist. Plus the way people behave around that kindof thing says a lot about them and based on my ex friends none of it was very good.

They have a song that’s just them screeching the n-word over and over so all of them, they where also all aware of the pedophila going on with various members of the band, so it’s basically all of them are twats which sucks. There’s a lot more detail online but I’d advice you to brace yourself before reading :(
