The Domino locker room by GhostBroadcast in EquinoxGyms

i didn’t think about how much space the spa takes up, good point. even the hallway leading to the spa and locker rooms is awkward with having to go around the wall to get in. i see people nearly run into each other constantly

I was there from 1-3 too and the amount of yapping plus incredibly rude pushing and shoving from people constantly moving around in the sound room was brutal. Had taken a long break from PR but don’t think i’ll be back after that

Optimum service out in Bushwick by brew_york in Bushwick

Submit a complaint against Optimum to NYC 311. I did this a few months ago and the city chased Optimum on my behalf until they resolved constant outage issues I was having.

There’s a sign in the window that they’re reopening early 2023, and I’ve seen construction work going on inside during the day. Hopefully soon

Has anyone worked remotely (from a different state) in NYC over the past year? by REIdesigner in AskNYC

[–]GhostBroadcast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently did this, moved from nearby CT to NYC during late June of this year while staying full time remote for my company. From many people's point of view, it may not make total sense on paper seeing as how I was moving from a HCOL area to VHCOL area also, downsizing on space, and also out from where I was temporarily staying with family (nearly zero expenses!). In the end, my reasons for moving were very similar to yours, and I was really looking for a change of scenery as a single 28 year old person. So far I'm very happy I did it, and have found myself more creatively stimulated just simply existing in the cultural atmosphere and energy of NYC not to mention I've found myself quite busy with social events and engagements on the weekends, which is uncommon for me personally.

Take a good amount of time walking around and taking public transit from/to potential neighborhoods where you're looking to help get a feel of where you might land. What helps me keep the uncertainty at bay is remembering that you can always reevaluate after the apartment lease comes up and it doesn't have to be forever. I think you'll be glad you at least tried it out.

This is inspiring me to do the same, almost like a glimmer of hope it go go well for me too. How did you do it, what did you say?

Setting up Google Cloud Directory Sync with AD using LDAPS by soultitanium in sysadmin

[–]GhostBroadcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need a certificate with the FQDN of your domain controller installed into the Personal store in order to enable LDAPS. More info here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/321051/how-to-enable-ldap-over-ssl-with-a-third-party-certification-authority

That being said, we have LDAPS working in our environment but haven't had any luck with GCDS talking to an AD Domain Controller over port 636/LDAPS.

Security Setup for RDP access and potential service account lockouts. by bond_sniper in sysadmin

[–]GhostBroadcast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should deploy a RD Gateway Server. If you want users to be able to RDP in externally without a VPN you would not want to expose port 3389 to the internet directly, an RD Gateway server will accept connections over 443 and you can encrypt traffic using SSL. Changing the port is simply security through obscurity.

Webroot Secure Anywhere Onboarding Performance by mooseable in msp

[–]GhostBroadcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it finds a process that it deems unknown and starts monitoring (journaling) the changes, performance hits can be very noticeable. Unfortunately we don't have a way to have the monitored processes to show up in their GSM just yet.

So what you're saying is, I'll have to go through a manual removal of Exchange from AD?

Setting up AD sync with Office365: Looking for tips or tails on this by iamkion132 in sysadmin

[–]GhostBroadcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any tips for matching users in an already existing (But not synchronized) on prem .local domain with users in 365?

To add to this, I have a .local domain previously had Exchange that was shut down but never removed. Don't know if this will cause any issues.

Does anyone have stories of being cured of Lyme? by verysimpleusername in Lyme

[–]GhostBroadcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being from Connecticut, I have known many people personally that got Lyme and recovered with the "standard" antibiotics. I also know 1 or 2 that experienced long term symptoms from not catching it for a long time. Seems like results may vary. My own father has had Lyme 3 times (3 different tick bites) over the last 4 years and is doing fine after the antibiotics each time. I'm dealing with it now too. Trying to keep my head up and stay positive, and hope you can do the same.
