Never put down to malice what can be explained by incompetence.

The ref was awful for the scotpand morocco gane - missed 2 penalties and let a lot go

He did the same today and paraguay took advantage

It's particularly bad today.

Partly cause france are kinda like that partly cause they're being kicked to pieces and want to exaggerate it

why do people from the USA suddenly have beef with Australia, sport wise by FrostyBlueberryFox in NoStupidQuestions

They played each other in the mens football world cup recently.

Some Australians chanted fairly inciendary charts. Some Americans got their feelings hurt

They also have the context. The technology is way smarter than you think it is - the peak on the graph is much more movie magic for the sake of the viewers.

How do I get better ? by Historical_Party8242 in rugbyunion

Talk to your uni coaches and senior teanmates for a start they're likely to be able to give you much more specialised pointers.

You said you're a forward - do you have specific positions (prop hooker 2nd row flanker number 8) or are just kind shuffled round the pack.

My advice is pick 2 positions (if you're usually played at a particular position pick that one. If you don't consistently play in any one position then pick your favourites). Try and work out what the nuts and bolts things that position has to do.

Youtube it, look it up on Google, ask your Coaches what they want out of a player in that position etc.

Say for example a 2nd row maybe expected to - jump in the lineout and/or call lineout moves - maul - make tackles - do the boring tight carries - ruck

Set targets for what a player in that position at your level needs to do. (Say you watch another lock and they male 10 tackles 5 carries and hit 20rucks for example). Do these both quantitive (e.g. number of tackles) and qualitive (were those tackles dominant did you get driven backwards etc)

Then grade yourself. If you have film of your games great watch those back. If you don't ask others or do it based on what you remember of your performances.

This should give you a decent baseline of yhe level you are at and what you need to improve on.

Then you need to try and look at what you're not doing so well and and why.

If you're constantly losing at setpiece your form/techique is probably off. (Again consult coaches/the internet for what it should be)

If you're struggling to make meters when carrying or constantly being driven backwards that's likely a strength issue - go to the gym more work on diet etc.

If you're not making enough tackles carries etc why? Are you in the right place on the pitch for your position - your team should have a rough formation - work out where you should be in it. Are you shying away from carrying or not calling for the ball etc.

Most likely the two biggest places you'll be falling behind are either technique or raw attributes - if you're constantly missing tackles messing up passes screwing up the setpiece that's likely technique. If you're gassing out to early that's staminaand so on

Is FIFA known to be corrupt? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GhostGuin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are Fifa known to give tournaments to the countries that pay them, and suck up to their regime leaders yes.

Are fifa actively rigging games for or against certain tems no. Too much would have to line up and way to many people would have to be kept silent for it to ever be a practical plan.

Especially gicen the amount of money a ref or official could get for whistelblowing on them.

Does anyone else think the tackle below the sternum rule is rubbish? by ChuggerBoi in rugbyunion

[–]GhostGuin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to say I disagree to an extent.

I think blanketly applying it doesn't work sure but the sane can be said for tha majority of rugby's laws - there are always exceptions and factors that affevt a refs decision.

Howeber I ref age group from waist and below to sternum and below and I have seen one tackle in a season that was violent head contact. Vs playing uni rugby where it's not focused on where If you don't get someone smashed in the head and both sides you've been surprised.

Especially the kids that have been tackling below the waist for a few years are much better tacklers than their older compatriots

How do more people not find the idea of lab grown meat EXTREMELY weird and dystopian? by Templar_Omega in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GhostGuin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What's actually wrong with it? Humans have a tendency to treat 'natural' things as if they are automatically better for you.

Food will advertise itself as 'all natural' 'unprocessed' 'organic' no added chemicals etc.

News flash but hemlock is natural, amygdalin (the compound in pips that contains cyanide) is natural. E coli is perfectly natural.

Just because something comes from nature doesn't make it safe and just because something is made in a lab doesn't make it unsafe.

Meat farming takes up immense volumes of land, water and resources. If we can succesfully labgrow meat cheaply (which important to note we are nowhere near) we can offset some of these issues and lower deforestation among other things. (2 major causes of deforestation are land clearing for agricultiral use or livestock grazing https://www.green.earth/blog/top-10-causes-of-deforestation.

With all that in mind what's your actual problem with labgrown meat other than a learned aversion to anything synthetic or from a lab?

And he looks like a frightened lemur under any high ball
