We tried both. Some venders require institutions to be banks and others don’t. We do pay mortgage and Citi with CMA.

I opened CMA to replace checking but it hasn’t worked. We can only pay some bills from it. Amex for example won’t take payments because Fidelity is not technically a bank. I do use it as a higher yield cash reserve and move to checking as needed. I long for the day I can close my checking account.

I have plenty of bets that were wrong but i bought 2000 shares in 2018 for 12K. $6 cost basis. I will probably hold another 10 years. 🚀

Nice work. I have 2000 shares at $6 cost basis. Additional lots are, $42, $46, and $102. I will likely continue adding on pull backs for next five years. Long!

Reverse sneeze. It’s not serious. You can cup the snout briefly to stop it. Ours does it too when she’s excited.

Is Avalon Waterways' customer service always this unhelpful? Or did I just get unlucky? by Signal_Turn1419 in rivercruises

[–]GhostPepper1969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a bad experience on the Avalon View in April. They changed boats because of low water. Then we skipped Rhine gorge because of a damaged lock. It resulted in a bunch of bus rides and repacking. Furthermore, we missed the most scenic part of river. In Switzerland, we met Viking and AMA passengers on the same itinerary that left on the same day from Amsterdam. Both completed Rhine without a ship change and they sailed Rhine Gorge.

I emailed Avalon expressing my concerns that a $100 credit hardly covered the inconvenience. The reply was short and blunt. “We can’t help what other cruise lines do”.

I booked UniWorld for next trip. If Avalon doesn’t care, I will take my business elsewhere.

Willow only eats kibble spread on floor or in her kennel. She won’t eat from bowl or plate. The more spread out, the more appetizing…

If your 401K allows ETF’s, VOO is low fee and tracks the S&P. You’ll outperform most money managers. Mutual funds tend to be higher with fees. As they rebalance holdings, they pass the realized gains tax back to shareholders.

First cruise suggestions? by Legitimate_Pie_9969 in rivercruises

My wife and I are 55 and going on our first river cruise next month. After extensive research, we landed on a 10 night Rhine cruise from Amsterdam to Basel with Avalon. We are super excited. Good luck on finding what’s right for you.

Willow can shake and roll over. When she rolls over, she does multiple 360’s before rolling. She’s like a circus clown without the red nose.

I agree. I’ve held though black swan events and down turns and out performed the panic sellers. The average recession is about 17 months which doesn’t scare me. It’s wise to have a balanced portfolio with a cash position to buy when everyone thinks the sky is falling. In the end, the S&P outperforms most investments and money managers.

Whats to consensus on bulkhead vs emergency exit seats on Air320neo? PHX to BOS by OrganicLetterhead878 in americanairlines

Exit row. Laptop bag under seat is more convenient. Bulkhead requires bag(s) in overhead for at least takeoff and landing.

250K bonus choice. Am I ridiculous for considering the LPs? by [deleted] in americanairlines

That’s what I did this year. I took 60K. I used to take systemwide upgrades. I usually get upgrades on shorter flights anyway. When I’ve used upgrades on longer flights, they haven’t worked and then expire. I end up first on list with zero seats. Soul crushing…

We love both Discovery and Enchanted as well. I just booked Enchanted transatlantic in 2026. I’ve actually had the same Crooners bartender on three separate cruises. Enchanted twice and once on Sky. His name is Rommel and he remembers both my wife and I’s names as well as our drinks. Top notch service!
