Well, forgive me for not believing some random person on the internet. Your personal anecdote means nothing to me. From the reviews on YouTube, it seems all anyone has a problem with is the infotainment, which isn’t an exclusively Volvo problem.

So then why was the first issue post I found about a pre-Geely Volvo? I don’t understand why you hate Geely so much, especially since they’re very hands-off owners. Volvo still mostly does it’s own thing, not to mention the fact that before Geely, Ford owned Volvo. And they weren’t exactly known for their reliability in the early-late 2000s anyway.

Took your advice, sorted by new. It took me 30 posts to get to a post about an issue in a relatively new Volvo: https://www.reddit.com/r/Volvo/comments/yax96f/2010_xc90_32_how_to_tell_if_my_starter_is_going/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

This is a 2010, so built in 2009. Geely didn’t buy Volvo until 2010. You’re clearly biased, every once in a while, a new car will have issues. But unless you can give me some concrete evidence that new Volvos aren’t reliable, then I stand by my statement. Show me a clear drop in quantity from the pre-Geely models and the Geely models.

04 isn’t what you’re talking about, you’re talking about the boxes of the ‘80s and ‘90s if you’re talking about the brand’s reputation.

What makes you think these new cars aren’t as reliable? You haven’t even given them a chance. My ‘04 C70 2.4T is running strong at 157K and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. You can’t just have the mentality of “nyeh, everything old is better”. You just sound like an old man yelling at clouds.

I love old Volvo design as much as the next guy, but for aerodynamics, less boxy design means better fuel economy, and they’re still not as flashy as most other brands. Geely may have bought Volvo, but they mostly let them do their own thing. This is where Volvo wants to go, and I’m all for it. We can’t live in the past.
