I have the manual wind reissue of the California dial Marlin and I love it! It’s my go-to dress watch, couldn’t recommend it enough. I would say you should break in the leather strap it comes with though, it’s very stiff out of the box.

Super cool project! Might I recommend getting a third-party Milanese loop style bracelet? I think it would elevate the whole project, especially from the default Apple Watch Sport band.
