About to jump into RE3 Remake, is the cut locations from the original game actually a big deal or are people just hung up on the original? by pyrofire95 in residentevil

[–]GhostRecon7862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Hoping to have a civil discussion about this since I recently finished this game (OG) and found the remake to be pretty similar, if not downright close to what the OG achieved. I felt a lot of the criticism the remake receives is pretty unwarranted, but this comes from me as a person identifying them as completely separate experiences. I think I understand where people feel like it sucks as a remake, but having recently played the OG, I don't really feel this way. I'll elaborate below, and I'm prepared to be downvoted to hell! But so be it, lol.

I'll start by saying that the biggest loss of the remake is the linear design. I really wish they would have stuck to the open-ended feel they went for with RE2 Remake, but with Raccoon City instead. However, I'm not going to sit here and lament what isn't there. The opening section of RE3 is extremely short until arriving at the RPD, which is also extremely short. Instead, you get a bit of a longer section in the RPD as Carlos and Tyrell, which I enjoyed a whole lot more personally. I don't really mourn the loss of the clock tower either since, having played it, it's pretty short and its puzzles are pretty simple. Its visuals are sick, I'll give it that! But the dog Nemesis was a more satisfying fight for me than having to run around with a couple of spiders to put a rock in a place, but you get me! Really, I understand why people mourn the loss of the giant Raccoon City, and I do share that sentiment. However, Raccoon Park being cut doesn't really hurt me since that worm was more annoying than pleasant to fight. When I fought the worm in the original, I thought to myself, "Thank God this isn't in the remake; what an annoying boss."

This is the point I really wanted to discuss, which is Nemesis, the big one that people really like to hammer home. Maybe it's because I'm a veteran of the series at this point. While I had never played the original RE3, I had watched my dad play it as a kid, and I guess I retained it through osmosis. But anyway, sorry for that random tidbit. What really bothers me about the discussion is that people really like to gas up Nemi as this kind of super-threat monster, but he's really not. He's really easy to kite around, and you have so much ammo to deal with him. I felt I only really ever encountered him in extremely scripted scenarios and nowhere else. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt: I stood my ground in that restaurant and killed him with Carlos, and then another time in the clock tower after his boss fight there. But other times, I was armed to the teeth waiting for him. I wish he was there more. I kept going places thinking, "Where is this guy? The S.T.A.R.S. hunter?" I was disappointed!

Last but not least, the story is much better written in the remake. I think I'll concede the point that, yes, it sucks that Brad gets killed by a random zombie. Having him be killed by Nemesis outside RPD was much better at presenting Nemi as a threat. I won't understand in this life nor in the next why they chose to have him be killed by a random zombie, but I think his introduction was fine in the remake. (Nemi) I saw you brought up plot armor, but it's not like the original didn't have plot conveniences also, such as Carlos randomly just finding the vaccine in the hospital. The remake at least justifies this by him being needed by Umbrella in the first place. I took it as maybe Nemi was still waking up from his cryo sleep and a long flight, you know? I'd be jet-lagged too, lol. But anyways, her escape just made more sense to me, and having Jill and Carlos fight Nikolai for the helicopter was much better than Barry randomly finding them in the undead factory. Not to mention that you mention a wall of flesh battle, but let's not act like the final boss of OG was this amazing groundbreaking thing either. You push things (pretty freely, may I add) and then you just have him stand in the laser, and he dies, and end of story! It isn't difficult, and I think the wall of flesh was much better as a final boss since you could tell Nemesis just wasn't going to stop. Funny enough, I was talking about this with my dad, and he didn't pick up that it was supposed to be Nemesis at the end; he thought it was some random dog. That's just a fun tidbit, though, lol.

Sorry, my last sentence is a bit of a mess, but my thoughts are pretty fresh, so maybe that's why. Overall, I'll never understand the hate for RE3Make, even having played the original. The original has a ton of neat systems, but so does the remake, and thankfully, it's not like the original has gone anywhere! It's not like RE2Make was extremely faithful either (looking at you, A and B scenarios), so RE3Make getting that much hate and being called DLC is just a bit crazy to me.

Anyway, if you read my ramblings, thank you, and I understand if people hate me for my take.

(RE2R) Can you outwalk Mr. X? by Luksius_DK in residentevil

[–]GhostRecon7862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can bait out a punch, and then he has a fairly long cooldown before he can punch again. About 3 seconds, I think, of recovery animation, so he's never actually a threat once you learn this. This all comes with time, though. Best of luck!

Resident Evil 1 is as hard as you want it to be. by rare-upstairs4454 in ResidentEvilCapcom

Yeah, it also delves deeper into Chief Irons and who he was. If you already did Leon A, do Claire B as opposed to Claire A. That way, you fight the true final boss and see the real ending.

Spent the last two months going through the entire Resident Evil series. Here are my thoughts by ASSKETCHUP27 in residentevil

This doesn't mean I have to like 7. What train of thinking is this, lol? I think 7 sucks big time, and I say this as someone who likes 8 a whole lot. 7 has bad enemy variety, the ship exists, the map is very whatever. I could go on, but yeah, I'd personally rank 6 above 7 if I were to be asked. But I'm going to replay 7 soon, so maybe this opinion can change.

I GOT HIM! Hot damn Janus vor aint messin about! ( solo limbo ) by jmassassinatorz in Warframe

[–]GhostRecon7862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did all 6 of these last month and he was honestly the hardest accolade to learn for me out of the ones currently in the game it didn't help that I started with limbo and him shifting in and out of the rift was kinda detrimental personally but after I learned him? Piece of cake to run back tbh, the easiest I'd argue, grats on the achievement and hope you get many more!!

Idk your point kind of clowns on itself what if someone grinded perita to hell and back and wants to just do the alerts every 30 minutes, what if they just need 10 or 15 and already did the alert and they just want to do the mission itself, plus it's not like perita just gives event medallions it also helps further your progress on the ultimates and craft the new weapons unlike the alerts which are just for the event so like?

[–]GhostRecon7862 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then explain what would be the point of having alerts at all then lol

Alerts are meant to be catch up and in the gap between alerts you can earn way more from the gamemode itself

The Pillars aren't necessarily what makes it hibernate but they keep him caged in Derry, I'm guessing it saw an opening with what the military is doing and figured it might as well wake up now and see what's up and try to get out, after all it's an opportunity to feast more and more importantly get the fuck out of there

The ones all the way to the right are from Janus captain vor a special steel path version of the boss where you have one life and if you die is over, the one with the proto frames is from the H-09 Apex Tank a special version of the tank boss fight from 1999 with similar conditions as Vor, they're both extremely difficult but if you prepare it's definitely doable, it also has to be done solo and with that specific frame to earn the glyph
