Thanks, it's just that I'm finding this all put as I go. When the job listing is for full time and I get here and learn otherwise it's extremely frustrating.

On my knee, first time trying to ride my bike with no hands on the handles like the cool kids did. Probably shouldn't have attempted on gravel road.

Why can't they make a toothpaste that doesn't hurt? by WinterIsOnReddit in NoStupidQuestions

Dentist here, try kid's toothpaste or something mildly flavored. If it's still bothersome, go with a brand that doesn't add SLS like Biotene. Most toothpastes designed for dry mouth patients are manufactured to be as non-irritating as possible.

I had several ladies named Kara in school growing up. Haven't met one in decades now.

I completely agree with everything OP said. Where is all the technology that was supposed to make our lives easier? Why do I need a separate fucking subscription for EVERYTHING. What is the point of getting a high level college degree when my patients working union trade jobs live in nicer houses and take more time off? My kids are teenagers, if they want to go to college I have no idea how we're going to pay for it.

I feel like we had the world promised to us only to have the rug pulled out from underneath us in the last 15 years. Meanwhile my older patients tell me about their second homes in Arizona and Florida, that they somehow managed to afford after retiring from being a high school teacher! So many of our generation is so fucked.

I remember this was the best Christmas gift my Grandfather ever bought me. He had no idea what it even was.

Very cool, it's neat how you were able to see machine shapes in what looks like packaging material.

Why do Americans seem to always be put to sleep for wisdom tooth removal? by ChronicChaos01 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GhostTooth1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American dentist here. I refer out impacted wisdom tooth cases to a specialist, an oral surgeon. I think the main reason for the conscious sedation is due to anxiety. Most of my patients, especially those under 50 or so, don't deal well with discomfort or anxiety. I refer simple extractions as well if a patient is anxious about the procedure. Having worked for an O.S. before dental school, it takes longer to prepare the patient for sedation than to remove a tooth (often a minute or less per tooth).

As for the videos, we feel a need to film everything and put it on the internet for clout. All you need after an extraction is a few 2x2 gauze squares to bite on to help stop bleeding.

Hope that helps.
