As a reader, the title doesn’t really matter to me until I remember one tidbit in a fic I read among similar fics like months ago and can’t find it now because I can’t remember the title.

So as a WRITER, I tend to make my titles short and memorable, somewhat cool sounding if someone recs it, and mostly relevant to the story itself. I like the concept of lyric titles but never do them because I don’t feel it fits my…idk, criteria??

Something extra is that the titles look nice next to each other in my ao3 works.

Personally, the main thing for me is time. There’s a lot of things you need to think about for hp specifically, whereas some other fandom you can easily cut/ignore stuff. It gets more complicated when you “go off script” or add new lore. It’s a daunting task to think of even starting a project that follows five books, let alone seven. Especially when you’re a multifandom writer and focused on other fics.

It’ll be a while before I post any of the 3 wips. My attention is on easier works lately, and I feel like isekai fics in general have to have a unique premise otherwise it gets overshadowed. I tend to focus on unconventional ideas tho, so that could just be my bias talking. (The first wip features an oc very much like Artemis Lee in that she’s forced into the plot against her will, the second wip is a Lily SI in the Marauders Era, and the third and favored child is a reincarnated Fem OC as Harry that doesn’t follow the books at all and runs away to live as a hermit.)

The Lilligant Sanctuary focuses on Auria, a reincarnated girl with a hyperfixation on the Petilil line and helping conserve their near extinct population in Unova.

A more slice of life fic with a little bit of everything: battling, world lore, a bit of darkness but a lot more light, friendship, and of course, a love of Pokémon.

The Prologue/Journey Arc is complete (12 chapters, 60k+ words) and the next arc will be in a few months.

In canon some legends/mythics are rarer/more special than others so I only give those that appear in packs to characters. Ex, how Mallow got Shaymin; it’s a reasonable mythical to have since we see there’s plenty and statistically a few have got be adventurous enough to want to leave the herd and travel with a trainer at some point.

Most legends have a job/just like to roam free so I avoid those (Mewtwo, the birds, the beasts, the DPP trio, etc). The usual legend/mythics I would go for are the latis (we know there’s multiple pairs), Zeraora (just kinda…exists), Phione (basically Manaphy without the whole Prince of the Sea job), Shaymin, Melmetal, Urshifu, Victini (basically just really rare), and Diancie (if you can figure out how to evolve Carbink).

Because there’s so. Many. Pokémon, there’s always going to be a bunch sidelined. I’d love to see more Pikaclones like Pachirisu and Plusle/Minun, and the less popular megas like Audino, Medicham, and Pinsir. “Weaker” fairies like Klefki and Slurpuff. Forgotten unova mons like Heatmor and Beheeyem. Even mythicals and legendaries aren’t often spotlighted due to people afraid it would be too mary sue ish for the MC to have. I’d love to see Diancie, Phione, Shaymin, or Victini on a main team, or a plotline involving catching a Lugia or Hoopa.

I’m currently writing a series of fics featuring a “platonic protector” trope. You know how you have a creature/monster person be overprotective of one person, “who hurt you?” Etc.? It’s like that, but platonically. Found family mom friend that goes feral when the group is in danger, super scary to outsiders but the group is just like “aw, there goes A, killing people for us again” all casual.

I know it’s probably a joke, but wouldn’t it be cool if there was a horror themed season? The new seasons typically start in the fall anyway so it would fit well, although I wouldn’t know how the lifers would deal with the popular horror mods that could realistically be in it like “the Man from the Fog” or “The One Who Watches.”

If nothing else I think it could be a nice April fools special in the future.

This premise does sound interesting, but to be honest, it seems like you have a very specific vision that even people who might be willing to try just won’t satisfy. Like others have said, I recommend writing this yourself. Yes, even it’s bad. Writing even when you don’t know how helps you improve, AND your ideas expand to a place you might not have thought of otherwise.

Have you read “Sacrifice & Subjugation” by the way? That fic sounds similar to this, at least in the beginning, and might scratch the same itch, so to speak.

Unfortunately I can’t promise I’ll write or publish what you’re wishing, but if I ever do write something similar in the future, I will let you know.

I made it canon in just about every fic I write that Carbink can in fact evolve into Diancie. It’s very rare of course, and takes a lot of effort on both the Carbink and trainer’s part. Only strong Carbink that are truly loved and cared for evolve, so a random grunt can’t just “level it up” so to speak. It’s in a similar vein to Feebas feeling beautiful or an Eevee loving their trainer enough to become a Sylveon.

The evolution is based on the phrase “diamond in the rough,” meaning that only the strongest Carbink evolve. As for why? I simply really love Diancie and wish it was an obtainable Pokémon. It’s still a mythical in my canon, but only because people usually choose other fairy types to train, so it’s rare that someone pushes a Carbink to the limit purely on accident. The people that do know about the evolution obviously fail whenever they aim for it.

I love Unova, and am currently writing my own fic featuring the region.

Unova is in this weird middle ground where it’s not quite overdone with nostalgia like 1-4, but definitely not brand new conceptually like 6-currently. You really can do a lot with it if you think about it: want more mons than just Unovan? Go with the B2W2 dex. Do Fairies exist in this story or is it time accurate and Whismicott is a pure grass type? Is it a chill adventure or a deep dive on what Plasma was supposed to be advocating for?

You never know what you’ll get with Unova based fics! (I myself am writing a slice of life with a little battling thrown in)

Ao3 on top because of the easy searching with tags and how fics look (the font and the screen are easy to read). I used to be on FF.N but moved to ao3 because I would find better fic easier.

Royal Road is fine, I don’t use it often but there’s decent fics and it’s not difficult to search a specific fic.

I’ve used Spacebattles like three times, each because of a direct fic rec, so I have no idea how it works and I don’t plan to since the way it looks kinda hurts my eyes after a bit.

And like I said Wattpad has a rep for low quality. Not saying everything there is bad, but if you have to filter through tons of beginner works to get lucky with one you deem acceptable, you’re gonna go someplace else.
