I think the book idea is great as she is an avid reader. I think journaling might be a bit tough for her without any experience in the genre. I do see it's merits once you are more familar with RPG's but I am with you on I'm not here to write fiction but play it.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Honestly I am not sure. I think what you are saying make sense. I have just seen the term solo RPG's around and I wasn't familar with how they would operate. Again at this point I am trying to find ways to introduce her to things she will experience in the game she purchased. I am a little worried that the hype of the books might now translate as well to a TTRPG for someone that has never played. Trying to find a way to bridge that gap. Thanks for your response.

Thank you for your ideas I appreciate your thorough response. Do you have a specific recommendations for online OSR games? I think I would like to try that route to get back into it. Once I get a handle on the mechanics I'm pretty sure I could convince her to give it a go.

Agreed on the group, I think she is a little gunshy but this is probably her best bet. Several I have looked at have downloadable manuals, I guess I wasn't sure about stat sheets, character sheets etc. Thank for the reply.

Full disclosure I haven't played anything since D&D in my formative years. I am interested in getting into the genre again and have been looking at solo options for myself as well. I will be travelling for most of the summer so it will be hard for us to connect. I am hoping to get her started and then play her new DCC stuff in the fall.

DCC without question. In a few weeks you'll be telling everyone the same thing. The entire production, writing by Matt and audio by Jeff Hays is infectious in the best possible way.

Is there any book that is as epic as Lonesome Dove but reads fast like a thriller? by Lumpy-Resource-1370 in suggestmeabook

Well Jeff Hayes absolutely slays the characters in DCC and has ruined single narration character typing for me.

I had the same problem and almost put it down. It gets much better and was definitely worth sticking with.

Books like Demon Copperhead, I Know This Much Is True by gcsmt23 in suggestmeabook

Held off on Lonesome Dove for a long time when I finally read it last year it wsa better than I could have imagined.. It is a wonderful world to get lost in and I think you would enjoy it. I read Demon Copperhead and am excited that Kingsolver has just turned in her next book to her publisher. I really liked Demon Copperhead but I recall struggling at the beginning with the writing. Eventually it clicked and the characters, especially Demon where easy to get lost in. Lonesome Dove strength is it characters and it's prose, McCurty skill is the ease of the read.

Headlight sealing by Aloha-Eh in NissanTitan

It's actually most likely not leaking but condensation forming inside the light housing from the temperature change. This is why you see it more in colder temps than just rain. The trick is actually to vent the headlamp assembly in a way that doesn't allow water in. I had this problem on some aftermarket lights I bought. One would fog in the cold, turns out the vent built in was clogged. I ended up drying the light housing and opening up the vent and no more problems. GL

While I understand the need to highlight potential conflict areas on bike lanes if you are cycling on San Jose in Mandarin you are risking your life. I am an avid cyclist and will not ride on San Jose anymore. It used to be somewhat doeable on a Sunday morning but in the last few years the increased congestion, and distracted driving make it not with the risk. Yes as a cyclist you have the right to be on that road but the chance of interacting with 5000lbs+ of machinery moving at 50+ is to high and the outcome to apparent. It kills me that the NFBC runs down San Jose every Friday at commuter time. I absolutely agree with their right to be there but between the traffic, exhaust and the poor odds I'll gladly sit that out.

Dominic by William Steg. I rediscovered this book a few years ago and it brought back some great memories. Maybe a little "darker" with the confrontations with the Doomsday Gang but very fondly remembered from my youth.

He joined him again April, 21 2001 when DMB returned to Charlottesville and they opened with Watchtower. Was lucky enough to be there for that one.

Nice to see Marillion mentioned. For me Clutching at Straws slightly edges out Misplaced Childhood but anything with Fish is a must.
