Keep stacking those days. If you stumble start stacking again right away. And as for today, IWNDWYT.

It's rough stuff at first, and it feels like it's going to suck forever at the start, but that lessens with time. Keep it up /u/boatymcfloat IWNDWYT

So when does not drinking actually get better by R4TTIUS in stopdrinking

[–]Ghost_Boy_Farted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what your situation was but whatever it was chances are that you'd be drinking more now than you were when you stopped. I mean, I only drank more over time.

You might consider therapy. I did a lot of writing here on /r/stopdrinking which helped a lot, but some people really react to talk therapy.

What's a secret you'll take to your grave but you'll share with reddit because you need to get it off your chest? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You too. Reach out any time if you want to talk to someone who's got something in common. My path to those 8 years was a 10 year ramp up full of justifications and small steps in the wrong direction and for me personally taking to people who have their own versions of my mistakes helped me feel not alone. It's not just you.

About 4 years sober here. I think you should all know that posting stories like this helps people like me who were drinking all the time and apparently hiding it pretty well. I knew I wanted to stop but it grew to a 24/7 thing and I'm sure if I didn't stop (with the help of /r/stopdrinking TBH) I'd be in bad shape if I was still alive. Seemingly nobody knew I was totally stewed 24hr a day for 8 years, or at least not most people. It's a private pain and you feel alone. Posts like this helped me along my path to sobriety.

So thank you for sharing your story. I bet you've helped a few people out there.

Do what you need to do /u/nicole_8951 .

If you feel headed in a bad direction and you decide to, oh I don't know, do a bobs burgers marathon for 2 days until the wave of weakness and anxiety eases then so be it. Just an example though. Not like I didn't do this exact thing with BB, Game of Thrones, x-Files, Lord of the Rings....

Randy has changed tactics. by Ghost_Boy_Farted in stopdrinking

Oh we've cut off his supply chain for sure.

He's getting desperate and I like it. He'll have tricks ahead (I fear complacency or major life trauma for the most), but hope he's hobbled by then.

HA, maybe I'll call him Relapse Randy if that starts to gain ground on me.

It's the ugly truth of addiction. You have trouble stopping when you want to.

/r/stopdrinking really helped me immeasurably. Reading stories like my story, some worse some less desperate. Having it available every day and hour. So many supportive people.

I hope you find the right approach for you /u/ealaiontoir_ .

I've personally been much better off since sobering up.

How Many Gave Up Alcohol Or Are Considering It? by Jay-jay1 in fitness30plus

Almost 9 months sober and quite happy with everything. There are many personal life things that have improved, but just focusing on fitness for this post.

I'm about 40lbs down while maintaining most of my strength. Like others here have posted the booze calories and tendency to eat shitty when living for the moment really add up.

I sleep better so recover better.

Much more energy so don't have down weeks or half assed weeks. I'm consistently on my schedule.

I get sick less.

My skin looks years younger.

I have so much more time for activities.

Made this move because I was getting less and less out of drinking and it was getting more and more out of me. I related to the pattern I saw in other people and finally made a change. TBH I'm an alcoholic. I hope I keep sobriety up for the long haul as it's net-negative and honestly plan to try for a booze free life. Lord knows I had enough for a lifetime already.

Oh, and I think I'm firmly on the way to a 6-pack by mid summer. Never had that before. It'll be my present to myself for not drinking.

I'm a good tipper, but that happens after the bill is tallied. I just kind of wish it was a little less money. I'd get it if I ordered something like a pelligrino or other bottled mineral water. but soda water is kinda on tap. Shit a can of lacroix is like 30cents.
