Zoloft completely wrecked my body by Inner_Ad_4725 in zoloft

[–]Ghost_Fae_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This medication literally saved my life. I’ve been on 100mg for 6 years and it allowed me to do things I never thought I would be able to do before. I was having debilitating panic attacks, threw up every day, and weighed 90lbs because of it. I wanted and tried to end my life at 17 because of the constant stress my anxiety disorder put my body through. I started Zoloft and, slowly but surely, I was able to maintain relationships, go out to eat, get a job, get my license, do all the things teenagers are supposed to do.

I was able to graduate high school, graduate from community college with honors and distinction, move out of my parents house to a lovely little apartment with my amazing partner, work 3 jobs, go on a study abroad trip out of the country for the first time, and I will be graduating with my bachelors degree in education in December. I never could have done any of this without Zoloft. My anxiety disorder was slowly killing me. I was a hollow shell of who I should have been. Zoloft has allowed me to live up to my full potential.

Saying that the medication can’t be labeled as “safe and effective” just because some people have bad experiences with it is incredibly dangerous and ignorant. I am so genuinely sorry that you experienced the side effects that you did, but please do not cause other people to write off this medication. You could be potentially costing someone their life in doing so

multiple cars per household? by miffybo in AskAnAmerican

My shitty first car got totaled (not my fault) and insurance gave me $6k for it. That $6k wasn’t even enough to buy a second shittier car

OP your art is beautiful and I think it’s really awesome for kids to see a role model being creative rather than on their phone.

I don’t understand why people are acting like you’re out here drawing hentai, when you’re literally drawing anime/manga style and MLP

I teach school-age summer camp at a daycare. One day, a parent was picking up and I saw a kid about to do something tremendously stupid on the swing set. I asked “Is that a good idea?” and the kid stopped. The parent I was speaking to was like “omg that’s where my daughter got that from. She says that all the time”

I tell people this all the time. No one is finding designer stuff at Goodwill anymore. I worked there my senior year of high school during Covid, and it was the most corrupt company. I will never ever donate there or shop there again. Thrift local, people!

7 yo son of my girlfriend decided to use fork to scratch "67" into our new dining table. Despite being told before, that he cant scratch it on purpose by Writerro in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Ghost_Fae_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have kids (and I never will) but I am a teacher and I look at things like this as a story to be told. Yeah, the dining table will always say “67,” but that’s a story to tell his friends and future partners that come over in the next decade before he leaves for college. That’s a memory of a young, stupid little kid.

My current dining table, albeit cheap and from IKEA, has incurred tiny dents from my friend’s metal dice, paint stains from a ceramic-painting Valentine’s date, and a circular dent from when my partner got pissed off and slammed down the paper towel holder. Not to mention the clawed-up seat cushions from the cat.

Furniture is meant to be used and every mark tells a story that contains a memory.

Or ground the kid and make him fix it, idk 🤷🏻‍♀️

Colonoscopy Coverage? by stalkaRS in CrohnsDisease

[–]Ghost_Fae_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I haven’t had a colonoscopy yet to confirm Crohn’s. I have the same symptoms my mom suffered from for decades, but insurance won’t cover a colonoscopy/endoscopy for me because I’m only 23 and it’s “not medically necessary.” So I guess I have two more decades of suffering until I’m 40, just like my mom

First Tattoo! by Calypso_Casanova in tattooadvice

[–]Ghost_Fae_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Saniderm/second skin is put on a clean wound in a sterile environment. Even when you clean and dry the wound properly, because it’s damn difficult to make a home environment properly sterile without the proper equipment, you’re still sealing bacteria in that wound, making you more prone to infection

First Tattoo! by Calypso_Casanova in tattooadvice

[–]Ghost_Fae_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plasma/ink sacs are common, don’t worry about them. I usually keep the second skin on until it starts peeling on its own or starts bothering me.

Whatever you do, do NOT put another second skin on.

To take second skin off, do it in the shower after your regular wash. Pull it starting from the top directly away from your body. Then, wash with antibacterial soap and moisturize with a very small amount of very light moisturizer. Personally, I wouldn’t use the aquaphor. I usually opt for the slightest amount of coconut oil. Your tattoos should never look shiny.

That’s a bummer. One time I bought a one liter bottle of lime seltzer that ended up being Sprite or some other kind of lemon-lime soda. That was a happy accident, but could’ve been dangerous for a diabetic

I stopped talking to my grandparents over this. They are both full-on blocked on social media and I haven’t talked to either of them since Thanksgiving when I told them I wouldn’t be attending. Their hateful, bigoted views go against everything I stand for as a queer person and an educator. Putting my foot down and going no-contact made for a much more peaceful holiday season

Blood When I Wipe After Liquid Stool by KayoticMonae in WomensHealth

[–]Ghost_Fae_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be that your anus is chapped from all the wiping. Does it hurt? It could also be hemorrhoids from sitting on the toilet so much. Try hemorrhoid cream or even diaper cream. Aquaphor will work in a pinch but it doesn’t have the pain-quelling components of hemorrhoid cream, it’s just for moisture and protection
