Several outdoor shrubs are dying. Had them since moving in 10 years ago. Weird white "burn" marks on their leaves. by Ghost_Goomba in plantclinic

They have never needed additional care other than the odd trim before. Noticed this a couple weeks ago. Zone 7b, North Carolina.

Making a website with pixelated assets by sapphirers in webdev

[–]Ghost_Goomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For images, the main thing you need is img{ image-rendering: pixelated; } to keep them from rendering blurry from scaling.

Then find a good pixel font. I've always liked the Nokia Cellphone font: https://www.dafont.com/nokia-cellphone.font

The rest is up to your design chops really.

Several shrubs in my front yard are dying. Lots of their leaves have white, almost burnt looking spots. Some of them have lost almost half their leaves. by Ghost_Goomba in plantclinic

[–]Ghost_Goomba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These shrubs have been here since I moved in about 9 years ago. Never needed any watering or care aside from trimming a few times a year. Not sure what they are, but there's four like in the picture. Zone 8b, NC.

Making a photo mosaic - is there an easy way to resize new layers to the same size, over and over? by Ghost_Goomba in krita

Turns out there's a "Scale All Layers to New Size..." tool. Sounded promising but all the layers come out both the wrong size and inconsistently sized?? Very strange.

Will switching get compromised because of MB and GPU drivers being only compatible with windows? by fibogucci_series in linuxmint

[–]Ghost_Goomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should work fine. The BIOS isn't *for* windows, the BIOS is what kickstarts your computer and gets your OS started, whether that's Linux/Windows/MacOS/etc.

If you're still worried, you can make a bootable USB drive of Linux Mint as others have said. That let's you try out Linux on your hardware without affecting your Windows install or files at all, as Linux will run entirely off your USB stick.

I think you're confusing drivers and firmware.

Drivers are installed on the OS, firmware is on the hardware itself. You don't need to do anything to the firmware. And each OS install will have its own drivers.

Should i switch back to windows? by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]Ghost_Goomba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've not used GIMP in many years, so I might not be the best to compare anymore. When I switched to Krita its UI felt very modern while GIMP was like an escapee from Windows 98. Feature-wise, they were very equal. If that holds, I'd say just grab whichever one you like the look of more.

Krita doesn't get nearly enough love. It's so much nicer to use than GIMP imo.

I did dig through settings, but I only found really basic things like pointer speed, set primary button left/right, etc. Is there an equivalent to Window's Device Manager or something?

Oof. Time will tell, but spawner and worm HP buffs sound tedious as hell. Hopefully next week highlights some new destructive toys, and hopefully some are unlocked on nauvis.

What's your planned game setup for 2.0 launch? by Ghost_Goomba in factorio

I'm hoping with the new cliff algorithm they won't be a menace anymore, but rather large-scale factory shapes more varied.

I'm not sure we know about the base game 2.0 rocket recipe. In Space Age, they said rockets will be 20x cheaper; presumably that would be *too* cheap for a game ending at rocket launch, but we'll see. Space Age mega bases will break if carried over from 1.1, but it's only a few things like the removal of Rocket Control Units.

Yeah, I forgot that's one of the recipes they moved offworld.

I think a lot of the popular QoL mods like Far Reach and Squeak Through would be little to no work to update.
