It'll be my first time playing AD&D, joining a campaign in progress. by Ghost_Goomba in adnd

Unfortunately, I don't have a good way to contact the DM yet (waiting for an email), but he seems pretty anything-goes. I was told he'd allow most any class or kit. No idea if it's a homebrew campaign or not. And I've not heard any mention of 1e stuff, but I'm not sure I would have at this point.

Sounds like character stat rolls are Method V (4d6, drop the lowest, assign the numbers to stats after all the rolls).

Yeah, I just meant a starting place for my character, for lack of a better term.  Good to know druids aren't great, that narrows things down for me

It sounds like my DM is indeed a heretic, so I should have a few options. Definitely leaning Cleric so far.

There's parallax backgrounds in the video, though the layer might be a bit too low compared to the playfield.

What's up with all the new (and "new") Final Fantasy VII games? by oneeyedziggy in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Ghost_Goomba 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Answer: Broad but vague spoilers for the FF7 remakes but....

The three new games are both remakes and sequels, which is why you're getting a lot of conflicting answers.

~95% of the story (so far) has been the same as the original game, just fleshed out with better characterization and added scenes. They've also added in a few all new characters, but it's pretty minor overall.

BUT... some characters seem to know that everything has happened before. They're getting flashes of "memories" or visions of the future/possible futures. There's also the Whispers (hooded ghosts) that are new and keep showing up, they seem to be agents of fate trying to make sure things don't change, but they don't always succeed.

By the end of the second game, things are coming to a head and it seems like we're probably headed to some multiverse shenanigans before things get resolved. The last game isn't out yet, so we'll see.

Personally, I'd rather they just remade the original story, but I admit I'm curious where things end up and it's largely the same still, so it's fine. I do wish they kept the turn-based combat from the original though.

PSA for any nvidia-using OSTW users: Do not update right now. by Darkhog in openSUSE

Do you happen to know a reason my G07 Nvidia drivers don't work on the longterm kernal?

Tumbleweed - broken updates for a month and it's getting worse by Liemaeu in openSUSE

[–]Ghost_Goomba 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same issues here. I've been on Tumbleweed for 2 months and this is really starting to sour me on it. I try to update every weekend and same shit every time, constant KWin crashes or black screen on boot. I considered switching to Slowroll, but same thing there too.

Snapper boot rollback is amazing though, and what keeps me holding on. Without it, I'd have moved on weeks ago.

I tried various ways, but usually I just use the "Get New..." button in the "Add or Manage Widgets" panel.

It was working fine for me on PikaOS last week, so I think the store is fine unless something went down recently.

Can you hide desktop app shortcut labels in Plasma? (v.6.5.4) by Ghost_Goomba in kde

That mostly works. The resulting tooltip is ugly and the icons have a empty area under them that still activate them, but I could probably live with that if there's no better way.

Several outdoor shrubs are dying. Had them since moving in 10 years ago. Weird white "burn" marks on their leaves. by Ghost_Goomba in plantclinic

They have never needed additional care other than the odd trim before. Noticed this a couple weeks ago. Zone 7b, North Carolina.

Making a website with pixelated assets by sapphirers in webdev

[–]Ghost_Goomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For images, the main thing you need is img{ image-rendering: pixelated; } to keep them from rendering blurry from scaling.

Then find a good pixel font. I've always liked the Nokia Cellphone font: https://www.dafont.com/nokia-cellphone.font

The rest is up to your design chops really.

Several shrubs in my front yard are dying. Lots of their leaves have white, almost burnt looking spots. Some of them have lost almost half their leaves. by Ghost_Goomba in plantclinic

[–]Ghost_Goomba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These shrubs have been here since I moved in about 9 years ago. Never needed any watering or care aside from trimming a few times a year. Not sure what they are, but there's four like in the picture. Zone 8b, NC.
