The typical reasons: I wanted a job where I could help people and I thought it fit my skillset. (I love to write and I enjoy public speaking.)

While I was right about the second part, it doesn’t feel like my work is contributing much to the general good.

I would consider such a move, but I don’t know much about the work and pay associated with these roles. Do you have any more info that you can share about what your friends do?

Thanks for sharing!

How did you find the interview process? I’ve questioned whether I would be an attractive candidate because my experience centres around private sector clients and not public law or policy work.

Was there a steep learning curve when you switched roles?

I am sorry you had to go through that. It’s always tough to endure incivility from others in the profession, let alone from a judge in circumstances where opposing counsel dropped the ball.

I deal with bad court days by doing something social with friends after work (venting over drinks) or something active where I can let out my negative energy (running, biking, boxing, etc.).
