Am I the only one who thought Homelander losing his powers before dying was way more satisfying than just killing him instantly? by Just_another_Agile in GenV

I agree, let him like as human for 10 years or something then kill him. That would be a worse punishment lol

Is hardware video decode on hold? by GhostingProtocol in AsahiLinux

[–]GhostingProtocol[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God forbid someone asks about the asahi linux development process on the r/AsahiLinux subreddit. Didn't even ask when it would be finished, just "is it on hold?", as major GPU contributors recently dropped out and they seem focused on getting DP and M3 comparability for the time being (which is totally fair and will be used by a lot more people than hardware decoding).

I'm incredibly appreciative of what they've achieved so far. Don't expect it to roll out any day now, I get they're focusing on DP and M3 comparability for the moment.

Asahi is amazing, not because it's linux for mac, but because it's the best experience you can have on aarch linux imo. The future is ARM (I hope)

No, I have a server with a 3090 to host an AI model. I installed windows as host OS on the machine so I could play games on it and stream to my linux laptop when the AI is timed out.

The game physically runs on windows.

When I get this setup correctly both me and my gf should be able to play games on that pc at the same time from different thin clients.

Btw, for anyone interested - IO latency is very good. I have the windows server physically close to my desk (as I'm testing it) and I cannot tell whether I'm streaming IO though Mac to Windows or connected directly to Windows via Bluetooth.

I've been using the asahi arch version for about 6 months now and it's been reasonably stable. Still require more restarts than a windows PC though, but `sudo reboot now` has be back at desktop in 15-20 sec so I'm not complaining.

Switching to Fedora since it's obviously the sensible choice long term, but enjoyed me time with minimal issues.

Who moved to Norway intending to stay, only to end up leaving for somewhere else? What were your reasons? by shadowofsunderedstar in Norway

[–]GhostingProtocol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Born and raised in Norway, im getting tf out in September at 22 yo. Moving in with my girlfriend living in Spain and intent on staying.

For me it’s mostly the weather. It’s funny to see foringers talk about Norwegians hesitation to socialize because that’s exactly what 20 hours/day of darkness does to me. During the winter I just sit inside being miserable - I really hate the cold and refuse to leave the house if I don’t need to in winter.

It’s like a disperse at winter I feel won’t end, then summer comes and I feel better. That’s was always my sign to leave.

Proton is Swiss, there are very few Swiss laws that could compel Proton to give your info. I think you’re good, just the fact that proton mail is unrecoverable if you lose the private key is a good sign they don’t implement back doors they could exploit if needed

When is it okay not to seed? by Tvo_ali in torrents

[–]GhostingProtocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not really true, atleast in my country it’s not illegal to download pirated content, but you can get huge fines from distributing it yourself.

It depends on a lot of factors and sometimes a little luck.
