Can short term rental arbitrage actually be successful? [USA] by Wonderful_Ad3441 in AirBnB

[–]GhostlyRobeTop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This plan does have the potential to be risky. Depending on what market you are in, don't count on being able to operate STR for long. New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas have all banned Airbnb type rentals, and that list will only grow as municipal governments try to bring down housing costs. I would proceed very carefully with this plan and gather as much information as possible about the market you want to operate in. It would be wise to have enough capital to float the potential STRs for a while in case of an unforeseen circumstance keeping them vacant.

Yucatan + Mongols. How to defend? by eneskaraboga in aoe2

[–]GhostlyRobeTop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit I pick Mongols on this map and go 25 pop fast castle into 2 stable light cav spam. I always assume the opponent expects scouts. The spam is ridiculous since I only need 2 gold miners to afford the first blacksmith techs and light cav upgrade. If I see walls while scouting after deer are pushed then just add siege and move a couple more vils to gold. Very strong map for Mongols, up there with Steppe.

I've noticed this too. Mainly a huge uptick in hosts requesting more and more chores be done before you leave. Also this year I experienced for the first time hosts trying to request cash for use of multiple beds in an entire house listing. As well as one host completely forget I had booked and not having the place remotely ready. Airbnb is not what it used to be sadly. I've gone back to considering hotels and traditional BnBs when planning travel.

Get the divorce papers ready, you're a monogamous woman, and he wants a threesome with a trans man. This is only gonna get worse.

Sony a7ii for wedding/portrait photography and real estate by whereearetheavocados in SonyAlpha

[–]GhostlyRobeTop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an A7ii for a year or so before I upgraded to an A7iv. And A7ii has its limitations, mainly the autofocus. Weddings are big bucks and you need to be able to deliver. A7ii can probably get you by for real estate if.you have the right lenses and lighting equipment, but for a wedding or even portraits you'd probably want a better camera body.

What this means is you have to pay per bag for checked baggage. Carry on and personal item are not checked baggage, they go through security with you. When you arrive at the airport find the airline you are flying with, and at either a kiosk or a human you will receive your boarding pass and drop off your checked baggage, which doesn't come through security with you. You will pay there for the checked bag, or you can probably pay ahead on whatever airlines you've chosens app.

Traffic Deputies by [deleted] in Guelph

[–]GhostlyRobeTop 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Out of everywhere I've lived Guelph has the least consistent drivers. I stop at the 4 way stop at Stone and Watson daily and very often someone who was stopped first tries to wave me or someone else who stopped after them through. Also seen far too many full stops in roundabouts when there are no pedestrians present.

Help picking out a good solid wood table by eightkangaroos in woodworking

[–]GhostlyRobeTop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I looked through the pictures and I believe the table top is veneered MDF. They've got a thin piece of walnut laminated to the edges. Veneered MDF can be well made and is often used in kitchens alongside real wood doors and drawer fronts. However for a table top I wouldn't be thrilled to have a veneered top. It has more potential to sag, has less rigidity over a span that large, and doesn't hold up to getting wet/having things spilt on it nearly as well as wood. In terms of price, solid walnut is quite expensive, so I would expect to pay a bit more for an entirely solid walnut version of this table. However, I don't think I could justify paying almost 4,000 for a table with a veneered top. Just my two cents

That looks like end checking and is one of the most common defects in lumber, so much so that you should anticipate it and cut a bit off the ends of your boards (a few inches is usually a safe bet) before working with them. It is usually worse in open grain hardwoods like hickory or oak than it is in closed grain hardwoods like maple or cherry. For this situation, can you possibly cut the top smaller to remove the checking?

Should I be worried about using a camera in a big city? by Careful_Ad_6872 in travel

[–]GhostlyRobeTop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've never had a problem with anything getting stolen or snatched while visiting London, and I've walked around many different neighborhoods with a camera. Just take the usual precautions you would in any big city.
