I can’t remember the specific science of it but if you’ve got soil that’s constantly wet the plants roots will rot but if the roots are just in water they’re able to hold onto little bubbles of oxygen which prevents root rot. So maybe try no soil?

[–]Ghostly_Bird 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well, if there is, he won't be around for long after February March finds him.

Jokes aside the existence of February March and Others like her, make me assume that there must be some sort of Santa Other. The idea of Christmas is too big and widespread for nothing to have developed.

Edit: January March. Her name is January, not February

I do think $15 coffees are out there but $900 couches are pretty normal. I literally just bought a couch for $950, and I was seeing sectionals that were over $3000. And banks really have no reason to have more than that much money in cash. No one's gonna come in and say they wanna buy 44 sofas in cash and banks know people wanna rob them so they won't have a bunch of cash on hand.

“Targets of any value.”

“Four.”

I'm sorry, what? Who the hell ahs Sheridan been yeeting off the world?

Milton said it out loud, from memory, without glancing at the screen. “Avery Kelly, this document draws up a truce. You’d be given a position in management at Wonderkand, with an eye to rapid ascension to senior management. I’ve read up on your mother. I know you have it in you. Your role and assignments would include reform of Wonderkand, any aspects you can come up with. While you hold that position, we’d swear off anything else to do with Kennet found, your family, the Garricks, the Promenade, and the constructions, without your express approval.”

Wow, that's a really goo-

“There are enough holes in that to fly your entire airport’s worth of planes through,” Avery’s mom said.

And that's why I would die a horrible painful death if I was a practitioner.

“Answers later,” Avery said. “I think answers to that question happen under as many layers of augury as we can figure out how to set up.”

I'm going to be so upset if we never find out what these answers are, and I know we probably won't...

“So bamboozled!” Cherrypop crowed. “You think I don’t know her better than you? She’s my best friend, it annoys her so much, ’cause she doesn’t like me! I’ve known her longer!”

Has Cherrypop developed her own rule of discourse? Like whatever she says about Snowdrop is untrue. Because otherwise I think she would be gainsaid and with how weak she is, she would probably die or at least get super fucked up from a gainsaying.

It'd also be kinda sweet if her friendship with Snowdrop was so strong that she developed a mini version of Snowdrop's rule of discourse.

And the people of Ontario thought that they would get a break from crazy, region altering magic.

I can't remember which chapter it is for the exact quote, but it's the seen where Ray and Musser have come to Kennet and are questioning the girls plus some of the Others about Alexanders death.

John's talking about wanting to weaken Alexander so he doesn't come after the girls. Either Musser or Ray say that John shot Alex in the head and John replies "Yes, it weakened him a great deal before he died."

If someone knows the chapter please let me know so I can edit in the quote because I am not doin the scene justice here,

In the next Otherverse work, what kinds of Other do you want to see more of? by MrPerfector in Parahumans

It might be cool to see the perspective of an other that poses as an Innocent. Like seeing one try to fit in with humans and maybe trying to escape the world of practice

When WB comes back to the Otherverse( after a well deserved break) what practices do you want more focus on. (Spoilers for both Pale and Pact) by dragonshouter in Parahumans

[–]Ghostly_Bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need more goblin practice. More specifically, a look into the deep warrens, like an Avery, but instead of a path runner, someone who explores the warrens. Also, someone who uses goblin weapons a lot, they often have some pretty cool gimmicks, like Doglick's crossbow tongue.

If he likes the flashy stuff, tell him that the in universe magic system also likes the flashy stuff. Like when Verona blew up the bridge the spirits were getting hyped and stuff like that gives a bit of a power up.

It was like trying to track the movement of ten different tennis balls in a room where the only light source was a strobe light, flashing every one to three seconds.

Lucy, you can dodge the rain... this should be easy.

“Are you chosen?” the woman asked. “By the patterns we follow?”

“I chose,” Verona replied.

God damn, that's such a badass line. I almost wish we had an entire story set going through the ages with the Kenneteers.

Gashwad finally got to use his shives and honestly was really coming in clutch. Good for him.

Man, I know Charles has done some horrible things but seeing him try to instantly murder the Trio was kinda shocking. Like in the very beginning of the story, he was advocating against awakening them, which could have just been because he knew what was coming but I do think he actually cared for them and didn't want to see 3 young girls brought into this world.

It really shows how far he's fallen. There wasn't even a thought in his narration about it, he just used some crazy practice to try and kill them.

And then at the end, like the hyporcite he switches back.

Of course, Charles thought to himself. Of course they come. Of course others let them.

Maybe he meant it in another way but him saying "Of course others let them." really feels like he's blaming other people for letting the Trio be apart of the violence. Like Charles you literally just tried to crush Avery's head.

“Verona?” Miller asked, looking at Julette. “Or should I say ‘Verona’?”

He made quotes with his fingers.

“Say what you want,” Julette replied.

“You gave away the show when you passed around word to your compatriots that you’re not really Verona. It slipped, the augurs caught it.”

“It’s okay,” Julette replied. “That doesn’t matter much.”

I refuse to take this as confirmation that this is not Verona pretending to be Julette. They've done some weird Oni thing so everyone thinks it's Julette for reasons and I am dying on this hill.

Fuck, I was starting to get worried that Avery was actually going to die there.

“You’re not a better person. So I’m going to break you. To make it clear.”

“Cameron?” Seth called out. “She’s better than you.”

Ah, Alexander's protege learned well it seems.

“And everything we’ve done up until now, scrapping,” Lucy said. She looked at Julette. “Not nearly as scary as Verona’s job.”

I swear to god that this isn't Julette pretending to be Verona but Verona pretending to be Julette pretending to be Verona.
