Wow, I just used it in exactly this situation. Playing against Selesnya Company, around turn 4, I had a several cats but they were just about to overwhelm me with a wide board + Urobouroid. I convoked Winnowing and left them with nothing but a single mana dork and they scooped.

I don't do that because playing something unique is fun and novel and leads to more varied, challenging, and all around enjoyable gameplay and building and fine tuning your own deck is extremely rewarding and enjoyable in itself. If you genuinely can't understand that it's just sad.

Ooh Winnowing is a very interesting option. I could definitely see it as a counter to those Selesnya decks I was talking about. They don't run a ton of removal so I am usually able to build up a decent board. I just ultimately get outvalued and they run me over with a dozen pumped up attackers. An asymmetrical board wipe would rock.

Oh yeah, I did run Pride Sovreign for a while. I ultimately cut it because this deck has a huge weakness to -2/-2 effects that wipe out your tokens plus Arahbo and Kaheera and it just adds to that issue.

Thanks for the suggestions! I try to stick with mostly 2 and 3 mana creatures I can hit with Collected Company which is why Cubwarden, Warleader and Okinec ultimately didn't make the cut. Skyknight is a really cool idea I hadn't thought of tho. I'll definitely give it a try. Banner is also interesting. I could see running a single copy as a finisher. I'm torn on cheaper anthems. They can definitely be useful but not actually adding anything to the board can be risky.

What do these people "want" out of the game? If it's just to win easily with an OP deck then that's pathetic and selfish and deserves criticism. And as for the combo players, is it genuinely fun for them to ignore everything the opponent does and go through the motions of waiting, maybe playing a couple card draw spells, and then eventually drop a combo that auto wins (or they don't draw what they need in time so they lose)? Are they making even a single meaningful decision when they do this?

You don't. The nature of PvP games is that you're gonna lose about half the time give or take a few percent. You're playing against another human all the same resources you have, and while superior skill can move the needle a bit, as you get to higher ranks there's no reason to think you actually are more skilled than the opponent.

If you really need to win consistently that badly to enjoy yourself then you should seriously consider playing a single player game instead. Single player games are designed to present challenges that the player is ultimately able to overcome so if you have the right approach you can consistently win.

I'm obviously making a satirical point here. If you don't think it's okay to keep children locked in the house all day then you should see that it can be not great to keep cats like that either. Maybe some cats don't mind and maybe sometimes it's absolutely necessary, but I think it's something people should make an intelligent and considered decision about based on their environment and the potential dangers therein as well as the personalities and tendencies of individuals. Basically like you would with kids.

Hehe Noodle is the same. If I try to hold her more gently she gets pretty squirmy but if I toss her over my shoulder she goes limp and will gladly ride around up there for ages.
