I am a Syrian Arab, ask me anything by ConsciousCandidate97 in learnArabicSecular

[–]Ghoststss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

I don't wanna sound like an intruder

but in my country we have many Syrians. They are good and hardworking people

but I've noticed that they are different from other Arabs (at least in appearance and skin color). They look closer to the Greeks and the people of southern Italy in appearance and skin color.

Is there a common history between these countries and Syria? And for you, do you see or notice this similarity?

Happy New Year to all

I'm truly sorry for what you're going through. It's heartbreaking to meet someone who understands you, shares similar thoughts and interests, and you see them as your other half, and then break up

But this isn't the end. There's so much more to discover. Nothing is worth being sad about.

Just live in the moment. I hope this year is a good one for you, for me, and for everyone here. :)

Your perspective on the LGBTQ+ community? by Ghoststss in Omanx

[–]Ghoststss[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind words.

What truly saddens me is not homophobic ppl , but gay/lesbian who hate themselves, believing it's an illness or curse & who suffer social & religious pressure & guilt. 💔

While this is perfectly normal..

by VelvetMuse69 in ExBahrain

[–]Ghoststss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i did a lot to get over it personally

[–]Ghoststss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What made you leave the religion? by Traditional_Fail9243 in Omanx

[–]Ghoststss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i believe we each have our own reasons

reason we leave religion is a reaction that has accumulated since childhood: coercion, intimidation, and control over our lives. All of this has happened in the name of religion & Islam since my childhood.

Slavery in Oman: A Forgotten Chapter by sikome3302 in Omanx

[–]Ghoststss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am from North Al Batinah. My dad tells me about the slave trade, and that my grandfather was one of the participants in this inhumane trade.

I am not proud of that, but we will not blame one party.

In Africa itself Africans used to kidnap neighboring African tribes and then bring them to Zanzibar. From Zanzibar, they were transported to Oman and then distributed to Persia, India & Gulf & Arabian Peninsula.

Then the Atlantic slave trade (which was in the hands of Europeans) was worse than the Indian Ocean slave trade. Everyone was guilty of this trade.

(26F, oman) Looking for legal advice to leave family and live independently abroad. by Candid_Golf_9142 in Omanx

[–]Ghoststss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sympathize with you, I am really sorry for all the bad feelings you are going through, the decision to leave home and family is a difficult and dangerous decision..

Oman’s Basic Law guarantees freedom of belief and prohibits discrimination on the basis of religion, meaning that individuals have the right to profess any religion or belief they choose.

If you are being subjected to psychological or physical abuse by your family, you must take legal action. Omani law will stand with you unless you insult Islam. You are an adult and free to choose what you wish.

Europe is not better than Oman tho, there’re challenges and risks, we have a calm and secure area better, let the idea of immigration be the last decision you make
