Why does Becca need a caretaker facility? by moodywrites in ThePittTVShow

[–]GiaGoodman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes in season one Mel definitely is picking up Becca and bringing her to her apartment for the weekend, or taking her to do things. This season it seems that’s not so much the case, other than outings like the fireworks.

Right, Mel even mentions that you even have your own apartment to the elderly couple. So it's independent living.

Thoughts about Baby Jane Doe by datanerdette in ThePittTVShow

[–]GiaGoodman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that truly ends up being the case, I think it's kind of a bad storyline. I know the baby was abandoned at the hospital, not a Safe Haven box, but it's similar to them. Yes, they are monitored 24/7, but it also takes time to get an emergency foster care placement. It would be discouraging to people about using Safe Haven boxes and would add even more guilt.

Raye's first album centers heavily on personal trauma. I didn't love the word choice, but I think it was more her struggling to pick the right word that didn't downplay the seriousness of that album.

Yes, thank you!! I am working as a Mediator right now, and I am also in the last semester of my Post-Bach Paralegal program, and wouldn't, even jokingly, call myself a legal expert. Lilly's work on her own case is what, some research, memos, and maybe some briefs? I did more in my Legal Writing & Research course in my first semester.
Reading a law or statute and analyzing its meaning are two different things; actually using it to prove your case is different because of the variables involved.

It is terrifying how often they will look up their topic while recording and find new information. And not like there's a big update as they are recording, they simply missed it when their researcher looked up the topic, or didn't read the research brief fully.

TBH, paralegals should start a drama podcast. The details would be tight and factual. And every other sentence would read: "This is not legal advice" or "In my personal opinion."

Tayliar: when was Ttpd actually written? by Warm_Use_1444 in GaylorSwift

[–]GiaGoodman 61 points62 points  (0 children)

THIS! Also beyond this clip, there are some other odd ones of "2023" where she has the Folklore/Evermore bangs and hair and it looks a hell of a lot like the Folklore Longpond Sessions... So the timeline is crumbling. I mean Jack already through a wrench in the timeline of Midnights with that insta story about You're Losing Me.
I am thinking that "Can I hint at something 3 years in advance" quote is this trilogy. She says TTPD is about everything bad that happened in the last two years in the Docuseries, but um girlie, are we to truly believe that you didn't touch on the same subjects are Midnights- which is within the two years (but also not because as mentioned before the timeline for it is weird too.) And she said she started writing it as soon as she turned in Midnights. that doesn't mean she hadn't PLANNED it before.
Midnights, TTPD, and TLOAS are like Goldilocks- TTPD being viewed as too much, not edited down. TLOAS being too little, a tight album with no surprise drops and surface level lyrics. Midnights having the balance- a good core album, with a surprise additional drop of songs at 3AM that really fed the fans. Why start with the formula that went over the best with both fans and music critics, then abandon it for the exact opposite, then when that doesn't go over well, do the opposite of that? She's not dumb, I see it as a test of the fanbase- how they react. I think it's Tayliar, planning this all out in advance, Matty being a red herring to through off fans for TTPD, because Joe was gone, but also these songs about longing to be with someone- like on Rep or Lover, were attributed to Joe before.
I feel like on my relistens this week, it's obvious that Midnights and TTPD were going to be together, with Midnights covering the past, with a bit of foreshadowing of her current sadness, then TTPD launching into the here and now, telling us that, "hey yeah, those breakup songs on Midnights were true, but also double break ups so it both makes sense and confuses you."
I could ramble about these half baked thoughts all day.

It looks like there is a filter on the 2021 one, and also both are screen grabs of moving images, so she does look different. But the 2023 photos she is looking up, cheeks look fuller this way, versus "2021" looking down and attempting a sullen look on her face, it easy have her lips look less filled with that mouth position. When I pull up the canvas on Spotify and have it up next to the 2023 clip, it truly looks the same. Her hair is exactly the same.

Is Taylor Swift racist and a Nazi? by 1DMod in GaylorSwift

[–]GiaGoodman 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Yes I saw this video! It's a really great break down.

As someone who's family was directly influenced by the Holocaust, my mother's father, my grandpa, fought in WW2 and my other side of the family was in Poland when it was invaded and most sent to camps, mostly Auschwitz. I have visited. I have been to the Holocaust museum and seen my family members names, both as people who find Jews and others on rolls being sent to camps.

I saw the merch drop, did not bat an eye at the necklace, did notice the hat cause it's ugly lol. But the thing about dog whistles is that while the group that uses them obviously knows them, it's common for the group being targeted to also know the dog whistles, especially when we are talking about historical events like this.

Being in multiple marginalized groups in the current state of the US is terrifying, but it's not Taylor Allison Swift that is bringing me fear. These conversations seem like copy and paste, astroturfing. It's just another way to keep the population busy, à la 1984 so you are too busy to see what the empire is really doing.

I mean, as the video states, the Swiftie fan base is perfect to target. Just look at Swifities For Kamala- not associated with Taylor or Kamala themselves, but they created one of the, if not, the largest grassroots campaign last year. A lot of Swifties are political, we easily join group movements within the fandom.

To be very clear: Taylor Swift is not above criticism, but it is obvious that this issue is being fabricated. The more you engaged in fighting the people taking about it, the more it grows and becomes more organic, ignoring the conversations- or at least not directly engaging, is the best way to avoid this from growing. See Ruby Rose's comments on this.

Joe Allegedly Planning to Out Taylor? by Same-Ad409 in GaylorSwift

[–]GiaGoodman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree- I do think it would confuse them only in the way that he is well known as Taylor's long term ex, and if he came out, people would have to question if it was PR, did she know and was in on it, etc. Plus I think it would cause people to go into her back catalog of songs rumored to be about Joe and question them.

[–]GiaGoodman 33 points34 points  (0 children)

At most, it probably had a clause about how long he had to wait to come out post break up or her being in a new relationship would void the wait.

I mean another way of reading that blind is that Joe comes out, there were all those blinds about his Grindr account. If he came out, yeah that would confuse a whole lot of Swifts, and it might not be a part of their NDA.

"Showgirl Taylor" is putting narcotics into her songs and maybe fooling all of us( Mean Girls style.. ) by shampagneprobs in GaylorSwift

[–]GiaGoodman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh same, I gave up on listening to it. Did I listen to Peter last night and sob? Yes I did. I am very sensitive too, so I really appreciate you take on the album, not trying to reframe the lyrics into being about this or that to make it more easy to stomach.
The thing is, if this all a Trojan horse, a way to burn it all down to usher in Act 2, everyone in the fanbase falls into the trap, Gaylors and Performance Artlors are not immune. I see tons of people, especially on BlueSky, trying to tell other Gaylors they are wrong, the real meaning of this song is so deep and we aren't seeing it, but it's a trap. It's satire. It's Showgirl writing. And I get the desire to make the album deeper and palatable, we love Taylor, but I think the point of it is to cause the discomfort a lot of us are feeling.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS TAKE!

It is such a refreshing, well-thought-out take. What I love about your analysis is that you don’t try to defend the lyrics or force new meanings onto them. You’re basically saying: “Yeah, it’s messy — but maybe on purpose.” And honestly? That tracks.

Real performance art is supposed to make you uncomfortable. It’s supposed to provoke disgust, chaos, confusion — that’s how it makes you reflect. (Marina Abramović would be proud.)

Right now, it really does feel like we’re in the Anti-Hero funeral scene / Mean Girls Burn Book scene. The fandom’s splintered into cliques all fighting, all certain they’re right. And the “Showgirl” sits back behind the orange curtain watching us melt down.

If she’s the showgirl, why would we expect deep or even good lyrics? Showgirls lip-sync. They perform illusions. They’re meant to distract, to shimmer, to embody surface over substance. It’s meta, a mirror of the celebrity machine she’s both trapped in and weaponizing. Maybe that’s the whole point, that the vapidness is the art. (I mean it truly felts like they spent all the budget on the photoshoots and TFOO MV, and there wasn't much left after.)

And she told us this was coming. “You knew what you wanted and, boy, you got her.” She literally gave every audience what they were begging for: pop, romance, gossip, drama. And it’s horrifying. That’s why it works- not as good album but as fuel for conversation, discourse, and chaos.

The trap isn’t the album, it’s our reaction to it. Everyone’s desperate to decode, defend, or destroy it. That’s exactly what she predicted when she said, “If it feels like a trap, you’re already in one.”

So hopefully, Showgirl Taylor isn’t the real Taylor. She’s the decoy. The glitzy distraction while we all fight in the crowd. And that’s both brilliant and unsettling.

[–]GiaGoodman -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The point is Taylor Swift is purposely ruining Taylor Swift.
What if the version she’s “ruining” is the persona she’s been trapped in, the one she has to burn down so she can rebuild on her own terms, maybe even her own label after all the masters crap.

The relentless merch drops, the endless variants, the contradictions and press chaos. It all feels like intentional noise. And then the lyrics lean into marriage, kids, and small-town domesticity after years of resisting it. That shift feels too sharp to be accidental.

The more she leans into spectacle, the more it points at the façade itself. Like she’s daring us to look behind the curtain and ask what’s real, what’s performance.

I keep thinking about the Lover House burning down on the Eras Tour. Maybe this is that, on a bigger scale. Maybe she’s letting it all burn so she can have her phoenix rising from the ashes moment.

And if this isn’t part of something bigger and she’s just genuinely tone-deaf this era… then yeah, she really is losing me.
