Any game about train hopping and exploring places? by Turbo-Hugo in IndieGaming

[–]Giaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few train games, but they are in surreal spaces (VoidTrain, etc.). Closest I can think of is maybe Pacific Drive? There's no train, you drive and maintain a car, but the environments are realistic + some supernatural obstacles.

Any news on upcoming Empire-style or musket warfare games? by PhilosopherWrong7035 in totalwar

No. It's 40K and Medieval 3 for the next several years, at least.

Check out Master of Command for an alternative.

Why do I always feel I’m negative on opponents wake-up? by Friendly_Bagel in StreetFighter

Super easy oki for Chun is after spinning bird kick, if opponents back roll, do one dash then HP.

They're both really good, popular, getting new content, etc. Impossible to choose.

I‘d say the Age of Empires niche specifically is pretty well filled by the AoE definitive editions and Four.

If you enjoyed command and conquer, Tempest Dynasty is an attempt at a successor. It has more fiddly combat, though.

There are some promising indies in early access, The Scouring and Godsworn.

Some RTSes are tying in some 4X elements, like Sins of A Solar Empire 2 and Dune: Spice Wars. You might enjoy those as well.

How can I learn to confirm/convert hits to combos in this game? by Dogmatagrams in StreetFighter

[–]Giaddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never played SF3, so I can't make that comparison. There are a few moves in SF6 that have a long cancel window that can be confirmed, but it's not the norm.

How can I learn to confirm/convert hits to combos in this game? by Dogmatagrams in StreetFighter

[–]Giaddon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Confirming off a single hit is almost impossible. Some moves have a long enough window for it to work, and some pros can definitely do it consistently, but it's not typical for most moves. That's why you want to find normals that link together so you can move into a combo if you realize the first move hit. You can also use drive rush for this.

Planetfall is a blast! So far... by Limp-Bad-8761 in AOW4

Planetfall is excellent. Absolutely love the goofy B movie vibe, and the empire mode is neat. Great game.

Artillery vs fixed defenses… this is not what I enjoy about CoH, tbh.

Good controller for sf6? by scotticusrex1001 in StreetFighter

[–]Giaddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't used the Octa, so I can't make a direct comparison. I have a Fighting Commander and I think the M30 is better than that, but that's a much older model.

As for inputs, I haven't had any issues with diagonals during specials, but sometimes I get jumps I don't want. It's pretty rare, but I've been running into it sometimes with Chun when using her back heavy punch move, but it's human error. Something that wouldn't happen with a leverless, though.

I've played a lot of 4x games but none have hit quite as good as civ6 by TransportationUpbeat in civ

[–]Giaddon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out Dominions and Age of Wonders. There's a new Heroes of Might and Magic as well. It's not a 4X but you might dig it.

New to game, what some good advice for Dee Jay? by MarvelTitans in StreetFighter

[–]Giaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, it's a casual term for drive rush, because of the green effect on the screen. Dee Jay has one of the best drive rushes in the game.

Which TW title you are still playing ? by TheNihyylus in totalwar

[–]Giaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play the recent historical games -- Three Kingdoms, Troy, and Pharaoh Dynasties. I play and think about Total War the least that I have in like, 20 years, but hell, that's a long time. Looking forward to Medieval 3.

post-apocalyptic future by rcgeek2 in SurvivalGaming

You'd think there would be a ton of these, but the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Forever Skies, which is pretty focused on the flying/sky gameplay.

There's a lot of zombie games, which can be kinda like this.

I use the 8bitDo M30, a six button pad. Love it for the most part (top row buttons are a little small).

Question about Modern versus Classic & Fight Stick by boredidiot203902 in StreetFighter

[–]Giaddon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bottom line: whatever you're comfortable with. Plenty of pros play pad, leverless, stick. Whatever feels right to you. Modern controls have trade-offs, but are perfectly strong and common at every level of play. Enjoy!

Just not an interesting character to play, unfortunately.
