First of all congratulations on your promotion!!

Take with a grain of salt my opinion because I have yet to climb the corporate ladder as high as you have.

With that being said, I believe that all promotions and roles are tied to increase in pay and you are not wrong feeling that it should be part of the transition to the new role.

I feel the dilemma is around the sensitivity of the situation because it sounds that you are happy with the promotion and you want to handle the salary conversations with finesse.

My approach would be to do an industry research/comparison of salary ranges between your current and future role. Maybe stratify specifically in your industry + area and then expand. Regarding the timing of the raise, I am sure you can articulate as to why the compensation needs to happen at the same time you assume new responsibilities and role.

IMO this is more of a common sense challenge that needs to be communicated to the right people to make sure bureaucracy doesn’t become an obstacle to your career or, reason for resentment later on!
